cookworks Coffee Machine care guides

  • Clean the Steam Wand After Every Use

If your Cookworks machine includes a steam wand, wipe it immediately after frothing milk using a damp cloth before milk has chance to dry.

For bean-to-cup models, periodically remove the steam nozzle and clean the steam outlet using the supplied cleaning needle to remove blockages. This helps maintain good steam pressure and improves milk frothing performance.

  • Empty the Drip Tray Regularly

The drip tray collects rinse water and excess coffee after brewing.

Don't wait until it overflows. Empty, rinse and dry the tray regularly, especially if the level indicator or float becomes visible.

Keeping the tray clean also helps reduce odours.

  • Empty the Coffee Grounds Container

Bean-to-cup Cookworks machines compress used coffee into a grounds container.

Empty the container daily if used regularly.

Always empty the grounds container while the machine is switched on so the internal counter resets correctly. Clean and dry the internal tray before refitting.

  • Clean the Brew Unit Weekly

If your Cookworks bean-to-cup machine has a removable brew unit, remove it once a week and rinse it under clean running water.

Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.

Also remove any loose coffee grounds from inside the brew chamber using the supplied cleaning brush.

  • Keep the Water Tank Clean

    Always use fresh drinking water.

Rinse the tank regularly to remove any deposits and prevent stale water affecting coffee flavour.

If you notice limescale marks inside the tank, clean them before refilling.

  • Descale Your Cookworks Coffee Machine

Limescale is one of the most common causes of poor performance.

Descale using a descaling product suitable for coffee machines.

If you live in a hard water area, descaling every two to three months is generally recommended, although frequent users may need to descale more often.

Bean-to-cup models will indicate when descaling is required using the dedicated descaling warning light.

  • Clean the Filter Holder

For Cookworks espresso machines, remove the filter basket after every coffee and rinse it thoroughly.

Periodically dismantle the filter assembly and clean each component to remove coffee oils that can restrict water flow and affect extraction quality.

  • Use Fresh Coffee

Fresh coffee beans or freshly ground coffee produce better flavour and place less strain on the brewing system.

Avoid leaving beans in the hopper for extended periods and store coffee in an airtight container away from heat and moisture.

  • Adjust the Grind Carefully

If your Cookworks bean-to-cup machine includes an adjustable grinder, only adjust the grind while the grinder is operating.

Changing the setting when the grinder is stationary can damage the grinding mechanism.

  • Keep the Exterior Clean

Simply wipe the machine with a soft damp cloth.

Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.

Never immerse the appliance in water.

  • Simple Maintenance Goes a Long Way

Regular cleaning takes only a few minutes but can significantly improve the reliability of your Cookworks coffee machine. Keeping the brewing system clean, emptying waste containers, descaling when required and maintaining the steam system will help produce better coffee while reducing the likelihood of common faults and unnecessary repairs.
