How to run coffee cleaning cycle on Sage Barista Touch

How to run coffee cleaning cycle on Sage Barista Touch

  • How to Launch the Clean Cycle

    1. Prepare the portafilter
Insert the 1 Cup filter basket into the portafilter, followed by the supplied cleaning disc.

    2. Add the cleaning tablet
Place one cleaning tablet into the cleaning disc.

    3. Fit the portafilter
Insert the prepared portafilter into the group head and lock it securely into position.

    4. Check the machine
Make sure there is sufficient fresh water in the water tank and empty the drip tray before starting.

    5. Open Settings
Switch the Barista Touch on and allow the touchscreen to load. Touch the Settings icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.

    6. Select Clean Cycle
Choose Clean Cycle from the Settings menu to begin the guided coffee-system cleaning programme.

  • Follow the On-Screen Prompts

Once Clean Cycle has been selected, follow the instructions shown on the Barista Touch touchscreen.

Allow the complete programme to run. The machine controls the cleaning sequence automatically, so don't remove the portafilter or interrupt the programme while it is running.

The cleaning cycle backflushes the group head to remove accumulated coffee oils and residue from the brewing system.

  • Finishing the Cleaning Cycle

Once the touchscreen confirms that the cleaning programme has finished:

    1. Remove the portafilter from the group head.
    2. Remove the cleaning disc and filter basket.
    3. Rinse the portafilter, basket and cleaning disc thoroughly with clean water.
    4. Check that the cleaning tablet has completely dissolved.
    5. Empty and rinse the drip tray if required.
    6. Refit the clean components and return the machine to normal use.
  • Engineer's Tip

Don't wait for poor coffee flow or flavour before cleaning the brewing system. When the Barista Touch displays its cleaning reminder, complete the Clean Cycle rather than descaling the machine. Coffee cleaning and descaling tackle different deposits and should be treated as separate maintenance jobs.

If the cleaning tablet hasn't completely dissolved when the cycle finishes, repeat the cleaning procedure before returning the machine to normal use.
