Krups coffee machine care guides
Keep your Krups coffee machine performing at its best with our manufacturer-specific care guides covering cleaning programmes, descaling, milk system maintenance, water filters, grinder adjustment and routine servicing to help maximise performance and extend the life of your machine.
Keep Your Krups Coffee Machine Performing at Its Best
Regular maintenance is one of the most important factors in keeping your Krups coffee machine producing great tasting coffee. Whether you own an EA Series, Evidence, Intuition or Espresseria model, following the recommended cleaning and maintenance procedures helps maintain brewing temperature, improve coffee quality and extend the life of your machine. Our Krups care guides are based on manufacturer recommendations and explain how to look after the coffee system, milk system, water circuit and grinder.
Cleaning Your Krups Coffee Machine
Krups bean-to-cup machines automatically monitor coffee preparation cycles and will prompt you when the brewing system requires cleaning. When the CLEAN indicator appears, complete the full automatic cleaning programme using the appropriate cleaning tablet. Interrupting the cleaning cycle may prevent the reminder from resetting, so always allow the programme to finish before switching the machine off. Regular cleaning removes coffee oils from the brewing circuit and helps maintain consistent extraction and flavour.
Descaling Your Krups Coffee Machine
Limescale naturally builds up inside every coffee machine. When the CALC indicator illuminates, your Krups machine is requesting a complete descaling programme to remove mineral deposits from the hydraulic system. The manufacturer's instructions recommend carrying out the full descaling cycle without interruption. On compatible models fitted with a Claris Aqua Filter cartridge, the filter should be removed before descaling and refitted or replaced afterwards. Completing descaling promptly helps maintain water flow, brewing temperature and long-term reliability.
Caring for the Milk System
If your Krups coffee machine prepares milk drinks, regular cleaning of the steam nozzle or automatic milk system is essential. The manuals recommend rinsing the milk circuit immediately after preparing milk and cleaning the steam nozzle thoroughly to remove milk residue. If the air intake holes become blocked, milk frothing performance can be reduced. Some models include removable components that can be cleaned separately, while stubborn blockages can be cleared using the supplied cleaning needle.
Krup water filter
Many Krups bean-to-cup machines are compatible with the Claris Aqua Filter System, which helps reduce limescale and improves water quality for brewing. Replacing the filter at the recommended intervals helps protect the internal hydraulic circuit and can reduce the frequency of descaling. If your machine uses a Claris filter, remember to remove it before starting a descaling programme and reinstall a new or existing cartridge once descaling has been completed.
Coffee Grinder Care
The integrated grinder is designed to work with fresh whole coffee beans. Krups advises against using oily, caramelised or flavoured coffee beans, as they can clog the grinder and affect machine performance. The grind setting should only be adjusted while the grinder is actively operating to avoid damaging the adjustment mechanism. Using fresh beans and selecting the correct grind size helps produce better flavour and a richer crema.
Daily Maintenance
Simple daily maintenance keeps your Krups coffee machine running smoothly. Empty the coffee grounds container and drip tray regularly, refill the water tank with fresh cold water, wipe the coffee outlets clean and perform the automatic rinse programmes when requested. If your machine has not been used for several days, running a rinse cycle before preparing your first coffee helps flush the brewing circuit and ensures the best possible coffee quality.
