Lavazza coffee machine not pumping water

Check the water tank is correctly fitted
Remove the water tank, fill it with fresh water and refit it firmly. On Lavazza machines, water must pass from the tank into the machine through the tank connection, so a tank that isn't fully seated can prevent the pump from drawing water correctly.
While the tank is removed, check the connection area for dirt or anything preventing it from sitting properly. Don't force the tank into position.
Listen to what happens when you start dispensing
The sound of the machine provides an important clue. If you press the coffee button and can clearly hear the pump operating but no water appears, the machine is attempting to move water but may be unable to draw it through the circuit.
If there is no pump noise at all despite the machine being ready to brew, the problem is different and may require further diagnosis rather than repeated attempts to prime the water circuit.
Check for air in the water circuit
Air can enter the water circuit if the tank has been allowed to run empty or the machine has been stored without water. The pump may then run noisily while producing little or no flow.
Fill and correctly seat the tank, remove the capsule and attempt to dispense water using the procedure appropriate for your Lavazza model. Short dispensing attempts can help determine whether the machine begins drawing water again. Avoid leaving the pump running continuously without water flow.
Test the machine without a capsule
If your model allows water to be dispensed without a capsule, remove the capsule and test the flow again.
If water flows normally without a capsule but stops or becomes severely restricted during brewing, check that you're using the correct compatible capsules and that the capsule-loading area is clean. If there is still no water without a capsule, concentrate on the tank and internal water circuit instead.
Descale if water flow has gradually become slower
A gradual reduction in dispensing speed can indicate scale accumulating within the water circuit. If your Lavazza is overdue for descaling, complete the correct descaling procedure for your particular model.
This is especially relevant when the machine still pumps and produces some water but the flow has progressively weakened. Descaling is less likely to resolve a sudden complete loss of flow caused by a tank connection, airlock or mechanical fault.
Don't repeatedly operate a pump that cannot draw water
If the tank is correctly installed, the machine has water available and appropriate priming and maintenance checks haven't restored flow, stop repeatedly attempting to brew.
A pump that can be heard but consistently fails to move water may require further investigation of the water circuit. If the pump doesn't operate at all, the machine may have a different electrical or control fault. Further inspection is preferable to continuously operating the machine without water flow.

Pump is loud but no water comes out
A noticeably loud pump with no flow can occur when the machine is struggling to draw water. Check the tank position and consider whether the tank recently ran empty, allowing air into the circuit.
Only a small amount of water comes out
Restricted rather than completely absent flow can be associated with scale or another obstruction within the water path. Check whether the problem has gradually worsened and whether descaling is overdue.
No water after refilling an empty tank
If the machine stopped because the tank ran empty and won't dispense after being refilled, air may have entered the circuit. Refit a full tank and follow the appropriate priming/water-dispensing procedure for your model.
Water flows without a capsule but not with one fitted
Check the capsule, loading area and brewing section. Normal water flow without a capsule suggests the machine is capable of drawing and pumping water.
Machine heats normally but won't dispense
If the Lavazza reaches its normal ready state, the heating cycle has completed. Concentrate troubleshooting on water supply, pump operation and the brewing circuit rather than treating it primarily as a heating problem.
Pump doesn't make any sound
A completely silent machine when a brew command is given presents a different fault from a pump that runs but cannot draw water. If the machine is otherwise powered and ready, further diagnosis may be required.
