Siemens coffee machine care guides
Keep your De'Longhi coffee machine performing at its best with cleaning, descaling and maintenance guidance designed to improve reliability and coffee quality.
Cleaning Your Siemens Coffee Machine
Keeping your Siemens coffee machine clean is one of the best ways to maintain great tasting coffee and reliable performance. The machine automatically rinses the coffee system during start-up and shutdown, helping to keep the internal coffee circuit clean. However, the exterior, coffee outlet and milk system still require regular manual cleaning. Wipe the housing, display and coffee outlet with a soft damp cloth after use, and if the machine has been unused for an extended period, clean the entire appliance including the brewing unit, drip tray and milk system before making drinks again. Never use steam cleaners or immerse the appliance in water, and always allow hot components to cool before cleaning.
Cleaning the Milk System
Milk residue can build up surprisingly quickly and is one of the most common causes of poor milk frothing and hygiene issues. Siemens recommends running the automatic Milk System Cleaning programme regularly, particularly after preparing milk drinks. This programme rinses the complete milk circuit automatically, helping prevent blockages, unpleasant odours and bacteria build-up. For best results, also rinse any removable milk containers and tubes after each use with clean water.
Descaling Your Siemens Coffee Machine
Limescale naturally develops inside all coffee machines, especially in hard water areas. Regular descaling protects the thermoblock, improves heating efficiency and helps maintain coffee temperature and flow. Siemens machines monitor usage and will prompt you when descaling is required. Always complete the programme as soon as it appears, using only Siemens-approved descaling tablets. Never use phosphoric acid-based descalers or place descaling tablets into the cleaning tablet compartment. Interrupting or delaying the descaling programme can eventually reduce machine performance and increase energy consumption.
Cleaning the Brewing System
Coffee oils gradually build up inside the brewing circuit and should be removed using the automatic Cleaning programme. Siemens recommends using genuine cleaning tablets placed only in the dedicated tablet compartment. For more thorough maintenance, the calc'nClean programme combines both cleaning and descaling in a single cycle, removing coffee residues and limescale from the internal pipework. Follow all on-screen instructions and allow the programme to complete without interruption.
Water Filter Care
Using the Siemens INTENZA water filter helps reduce limescale formation while improving coffee flavour by filtering impurities from the water. The machine includes a dedicated INTENZA Filter programme to insert, replace or remove the filter correctly. If you install a new filter, replace it promptly when recommended by the machine to maintain water quality and reduce the need for frequent descaling. If your home has a water softener, adjust the machine's water hardness settings accordingly.
Daily Care Tips
A few simple daily habits can significantly extend the life of your Siemens coffee machine. Empty and clean the drip tray and coffee grounds container every day to prevent deposits and odours. Refill the water tank daily with fresh, cold, still water, avoid leaving old water sitting overnight, and use only suitable roasted coffee beans designed for fully automatic coffee machines. Keeping the machine clean, replacing filters when prompted and running service programmes promptly will help maintain consistent coffee quality and minimise future faults.
