A brew unit can become stuck if the machine was interrupted during its operating cycle, switched off incorrectly, or the brewing mechanism has not returned to its normal removal position. Compact coffee grounds, dried residue or a mechanical obstruction can also restrict movement. Do not force the brew unit out, as this can damage the drive mechanism or brewing assembly.

Make sure the machine has completed its normal shutdown procedure before attempting removal. If it was unplugged or switched off while operating, restore power, refit any required components such as the drip tray and grounds container, and allow the machine to start and shut down normally. This may allow the internal drive to return the brew unit to its correct removal position.

Yes. Many automatic coffee machines reposition the brew unit during start-up and shutdown. If power is removed while this movement is taking place, the mechanism can stop in a position where the brew unit cannot be removed. Allowing the machine to complete a normal powered cycle may reset its position.

Yes. Loose grounds, compacted coffee and dried residue can accumulate around the brewing mechanism and interfere with movement. If accessible without forcing the brew unit, remove loose grounds from the surrounding compartment. Regular brew-unit and brewing-compartment cleaning can help prevent excessive build-up.

If the problem started immediately after cleaning, check that the brew unit was correctly reassembled and inserted in the correct position. The brew unit or internal drive may also have moved out of alignment while it was removed. Don't repeatedly force the mechanism or try to manually turn internal drive components unless the procedure is specifically provided for your machine.

If a normal start-up and shutdown cycle doesn't return the brew unit to its removable position, stop trying to force it. A jammed drive mechanism, position sensor, motor, damaged brewing component or another mechanical fault may be preventing movement. At this stage, model-specific troubleshooting or further diagnosis is preferable to risking damage by pulling on the brew unit.
