quick tips

  • Let the machine complete its first-use setup

When the Eletta Ultra is first switched on, follow the instructions shown on the touchscreen rather than trying to prepare a drink immediately. Select your language and work through the guided installation. The official Quick Start Guide indicates that initial setup takes approximately 5–10 minutes. Once setup is complete, the display confirms that the machine is ready and opens the main drinks screen.

  • Don't treat descaling and machine cleaning as the same job

The Eletta Ultra monitors descaling, water-filter replacement and machine cleaning separately. The maintenance screen can show each item individually as OK, Soon or Needed. If descaling is requested, run the descaling programme. If Machine Cleaning is requested, use the separate cleaning-tablet programme instead.

  • Deep-clean the milk carafes, not just the automatic milk circuit

LatteCrema Hot and LatteCrema Cool provide automatic milk preparation, but removable milk components still require thorough cleaning. The Quick Start Guide shows the carafe being completely dismantled, including removal of the milk tube, outlet and connector components. Suitable parts can be dishwasher cleaned, while the illustrated manual-cleaning method uses 40–50°C water for more than 30 minutes.

  • Check which LatteCrema carafe the drink requires

The Eletta Ultra uses separate LatteCrema Hot and LatteCrema Cool systems. The touchscreen identifies whether a drink belongs to the hot or cool milk system. If the machine asks for a particular carafe, fit that carafe rather than trying to prepare the recipe with the other one. The Quick Start Guide distinguishes the Hot and Cool carafes directly on the drinks interface.

  • Use the touchscreen before changing mechanical settings

The Eletta Ultra offers extensive drink customisation and more than 50 recipes. If the coffee seems too strong, weak, long or short, check the selected drink and its available settings before assuming the grinder needs adjusting. The machine also supports Bean Adapt Technology for optimising extraction around the beans being used.

  • Use the maintenance status screen instead of guessing when care is due

Open the machine's maintenance area to check the status of Descaling, Water filter change and Machine cleaning. The Quick Start Guide specifically illustrates this screen, with maintenance items individually marked by status. This is more reliable than carrying out every maintenance procedure simply because another one has become due.

FAQ's

  • Why is my De'Longhi Eletta Ultra asking for machine cleaning when I have already descaled it?

Because these are two different maintenance programmes. Descaling deals with mineral deposits in the machine's water system and takes approximately 20 minutes, requiring a container of at least 2 litres. Machine Cleaning is a separate approximately 10-minute process using a cleaning tablet and a container of at least 0.5 litres. The maintenance screen tracks the two processes independently. If Machine Cleaning shows Needed, carry out that programme even if the machine has recently been descaled.

  • Why isn't my Eletta Ultra milk frothing correctly?

First make sure you're using the appropriate LatteCrema Hot or LatteCrema Cool carafe for the selected recipe. If the correct carafe is installed but performance has deteriorated, thoroughly dismantle the milk system rather than relying only on its automatic cleaning. The Quick Start Guide specifically shows the milk outlet, intake tube and removable lid components being taken apart. For the hand-cleaned components it specifies 40–50°C water and more than 30 minutes of soaking. Pay particular attention to small milk passages and connections before reassembling the carafe.

  • Why can't I find a drink on my Eletta Ultra home screen?

Not every recipe has to appear on the main home screen. The Eletta Ultra has more than 50 recipes organised into seven Collections, while the home screen displays individual drink tiles such as Espresso, Cold Brew, Cappuccino and Cortado. Open Collections and browse the appropriate drink category. Availability can also depend on which milk system or accessories are required for the selected recipe.
