WHAT YOU'LL NEED

A clean, soft damp cloth, fresh water and the steam wand cleaning tool supplied with your Sage Oracle Jet, if required. Allow the steam wand to cool before handling its tip.

01

WIPE THE STEAM WAND AFTER USE

After texturing milk, carefully wipe the outside of the steam wand with a clean, damp cloth. Remove any visible milk residue before it dries onto the metal surface. Take care, as the wand and steam tip may still be hot immediately after use.

02

CHECK THE STEAM WAND TIP

Once the wand has cooled, inspect the steam tip for dried milk deposits or blocked openings. Restricted steam-tip holes can reduce milk texturing performance, resulting in weaker steam distribution or inconsistent milk foam.

03

OPEN STEAM WAND CLEANING

Switch on the Sage Oracle Jet and open the Settings menu on the touchscreen. Select "Steam wand cleaning" to access the machine's dedicated steam wand maintenance instructions.

04

FOLLOW THE TOUCHSCREEN GUIDE

Follow each instruction displayed on the touchscreen. The machine will guide you through the appropriate steam wand cleaning procedure. If the programme instructs you to remove or clean the steam tip, allow the components to cool and follow the displayed steps carefully.

05

CLEAR ANY BLOCKED OPENINGS

If the steam-tip openings remain blocked, use the appropriate steam wand cleaning tool only as directed by the touchscreen instructions. Avoid forcing sharp objects into the openings, as this could damage the steam tip. If the tip has been removed, make sure it is refitted and tightened securely after cleaning.

06

COMPLETE THE CLEANING PROCESS

Finish any remaining instructions on the display and ensure the steam wand is correctly assembled. Wipe away any remaining moisture or residue with a clean cloth. When the cleaning procedure is complete, the steam wand is ready for normal milk texturing again.

ENGINEER'S NOTE

If milk texturing performance remains poor after cleaning the steam tip, a restriction elsewhere in the steam system or mineral buildup may be contributing to the problem. Check that the steam-tip openings are clear and that the tip is securely fitted before investigating other causes. Use the machine's separate Descale Cycle if descaling is required.

FAQ's

  • How do I start the steam wand cleaning programme on my Sage Oracle Jet?

Open the Settings menu on the Sage Oracle Jet touchscreen and select Steam wand cleaning. Follow the instructions displayed on the machine to complete the cleaning procedure. This dedicated programme is separate from the coffee cleaning and descaling cycles.

  • Why is my Sage Oracle Jet steam wand not frothing milk properly?

Poor milk texturing can be caused by dried milk residue blocking the small openings in the steam wand tip. Allow the wand to cool, inspect the tip and run the Steam wand cleaning programme. If the openings are clear but steam performance remains weak, mineral buildup in the steam system may also be contributing to the problem.

  • How often should I clean the steam wand on my Sage Oracle Jet?

Wipe the steam wand with a clean, damp cloth after every milk-texturing session. Check the steam tip regularly for dried milk residue and use the touchscreen Steam wand cleaning programme when a more thorough clean is required or milk texturing performance deteriorates.

Engineer's Tip

The most effective way to prevent steam wand problems is to remove milk residue immediately after each use. Dried milk can gradually obstruct the small steam-tip openings, affecting steam distribution and milk texture. If frothing performance becomes inconsistent, inspect and clean the tip before assuming there is a fault with the steam system. Always ensure the steam tip is securely tightened after cleaning, as an incorrectly fitted tip can also affect performance.
