How to Descale a Melitta CI Touch

HOW TO DESCALE YOUR MELITTA CI TOUCH

Descaling removes limescale deposits from the internal water system of your Melitta CI Touch. Follow the built-in descaling programme to maintain reliable water flow and heating performance.

PREPARE YOUR MACHINE

Switch on your Melitta CI Touch and wait until it is ready for operation. Have your liquid descaling agent, fresh water and a suitable collection container ready. The complete programme takes approximately 25 minutes.

OPEN THE DESCALING MENU

Press and hold the rotary switch for approximately 2 seconds to open the menu. Turn the rotary switch to Care > Descaling and confirm your selection. Select Start to begin the programme.

REMOVE THE WATER FILTER IF FITTED

If your machine has a water filter installed, remove it when instructed by the display. Place the removed filter in a container of tap water during descaling. Do not leave the filter installed while descaling solution passes through the machine.

PREPARE THE DESCALING SOLUTION

Follow the machine's display instructions to prepare the water tank. Use Melitta ANTI CALC liquid descaling agent for fully automatic coffee machines, following the dilution and handling instructions supplied with the product.

Do not use vinegar or an unsuitable descaling agent, as this may damage internal components.

ALLOW THE DESCALING PROGRAMME TO RUN

Follow the instructions on the display, including any requests to empty the drip tray or position a collection container. Allow the machine to complete the automatic descaling process without interruption.

Take care when handling discharged water, as it may contain hot descaling solution.

COMPLETE THE RINSING PROCESS

When prompted, rinse the water tank and refill it with fresh water. Follow the display instructions until the rinsing stage and descaling programme have finished.

Reinstall the water filter if applicable, empty and clean the drip tray, and check that the machine has returned to its ready state.

How often should I descale my Melitta CI Touch?
If you are not using a water filter, descale approximately every three months or when the machine requests it. If a water filter is installed, follow the machine's descaling notification. Correct water hardness settings help the machine determine when descaling is required.
How long does the Melitta CI Touch descaling programme take?
The automatic descaling programme takes approximately 25 minutes. This includes the machine-controlled descaling process and associated rinsing stages. Avoid interrupting the programme once it has started.
