quick tips

  • Use DoubleShot for stronger coffees

The CM6160 features DoubleShot, which grinds and brews twice using smaller individual doses. This produces a stronger coffee with less bitterness than simply increasing the coffee quantity.

  • Clean the milk system regularly

Although the machine automatically rinses the milk pipework after use, Miele still recommends carrying out the dedicated Clean Milk Pipework maintenance programme and cleaning the removable milk components regularly to maintain excellent frothing performance.

  • Adjust the grinder gradually

The conical steel grinder should only be adjusted one setting at a time while the grinder is operating. Allow two coffees after each adjustment before deciding whether another change is needed.

  • Create individual user profiles

The CM6160 allows multiple user profiles, each storing individual drink strengths, temperatures and portion sizes. This saves continually changing settings for different family members.

  • Degrease the brew unit when prompted

Coffee oils naturally build up inside the brew unit. Complete the automatic degreasing programme as soon as the reminder appears to maintain coffee quality and prevent the brew unit becoming restricted.

  • Set the correct water hardness

The machine calculates descaling intervals from your programmed water hardness. Selecting the correct hardness during setup ensures maintenance reminders appear at the appropriate time and helps protect the heating system.

FAQ's

  • Why is my CM6160 MilkPerfection not producing good milk froth?

Check that cold milk (below 10°C) is being used, the milk pipework is clean, and the Cappuccinatore has been assembled correctly. Milk residue inside the milk system is the most common cause of poor frothing performance.

  • What is DoubleShot?

DoubleShot is a brewing function that grinds and brews twice using smaller quantities of coffee each time. This creates a stronger drink while reducing bitterness caused by over-extraction.

  • Can I save my own coffee recipes?

Yes. The CM6160 allows multiple user profiles, enabling different users to save their preferred drink sizes, coffee strength, brewing temperature and other settings for quick access.
