  • Water collecting in the drip tray

    This is usually normal.

    The Philips 5400 automatically rinses the coffee circuit during start-up and shutdown. This rinse water is directed into the drip tray, where it mixes with water produced during brewing.

    Check

    • Empty the drip tray daily.
    • Empty it whenever the red drip tray full indicator rises.
    • Place a cup beneath the coffee outlet during rinsing if you wish to reduce the amount of water entering the drip tray.

    This is expected operation and does not indicate a fault.

  • Water leaking underneath the machine

    If water is appearing underneath the machine rather than inside the drip tray:

    Check the water tank

    Remove the tank and reinstall it firmly.

    A water tank that is not fully seated can allow air into the hydraulic system and may cause leaking or poor water flow.

  • Water leaking around the LatteGo milk system

    If water or milk appears around the LatteGo attachment:

    Check the LatteGo assembly

    The milk container must be correctly clipped into the LatteGo frame before fitting it to the machine.

    After cleaning:

    • assemble the milk container correctly
    • ensure it clicks into place
    • attach it fully onto the hot water outlet

    Improper assembly can allow liquid to escape during milk preparation.

  • Water leaking after cleaning or maintenance

    After removing the brew group:

    • make sure it is fully inserted
    • check it locks into position
    • close the service door completely

    A brew group that is not correctly installed can affect the internal water path and lead to leaks or brewing problems.

  • Water leaking after replacing the AquaClean filter

    If leaking starts after fitting a new AquaClean filter:

    • remove the filter
    • prepare it correctly by soaking and priming it
    • reinstall it fully into the water tank
    • activate the filter through the machine menu

    An incorrectly installed filter may allow air into the system and affect water flow.

  • Machine appears to leak during brewing

    Before assuming the machine is faulty:

    • check the drip tray is not overflowing
    • ensure the machine is standing level
    • verify the water tank is fully inserted
    • clean the brew group thoroughly
    • descale the machine if the Calc/Clean indicator is illuminated
