Philips Café Aromis 8000 support
quick tips
The Philips Café Aromis 8000 EP8757/20
A fully automatic bean-to-cup coffee machine with a colour touchscreen, ceramic grinder, removable brew group and 1.9-litre water tank. It has a 280 g bean hopper, 15-bar pump, 1,500 W power rating and operates on 230 V. The machine measures approximately 24.6 cm wide × 43.3 cm deep × 37.1 cm high and weighs around 8.6 kg. It features 12 grinder settings, AquaClean water filtration, hot and cold LatteGo Pro milk systems, personalised user profiles, Barista Assistant and Wi-Fi connectivity for HomeID features.
Let the machine settle in before changing the grinder
Don't immediately start altering the grinder because the first few coffees aren't perfect. The EP8757/20 automatically adjusts the amount of ground coffee used, and you should brew at least 5 coffees initially while it completes its initial self-adjustment.
For grinder adjustment specifically, leave the factory setting alone for roughly 100–150 cups, or around one month of use.
Use Barista Assistant when changing coffee beans
The dedicated Barista Assistant button is more than a shortcut. Select whether you're using 100% Arabica or an Arabica/Robusta blend, then choose light, medium or dark roast. The machine can then optimise its brewing settings for those beans.
Run Barista Assistant again whenever you significantly change the beans you're using.
Treat the hot and cold LatteGo Pro systems differently
The EP8757/20 has dedicated hot and cold LatteGo Pro systems. For cold drinks, the cold system works best with fully skimmed milk. Whichever system you're using, start with milk straight from the fridge.
Make sure the milk container is correctly locked into its frame before filling it. Incorrect assembly can cause milk to leak from the container.
Don't make large grinder adjustments
The grinder has 12 settings. Settings 1–6 are finer and better suited to stronger, more bitter coffee and shorter drinks such as espresso, ristretto and cappuccino. Settings 7–12 are coarser and are better suited to longer drinks including coffee, iced coffee and cold brew.
Only move the adjustment one notch at a time and only while the grinder is actually running. Brew another 2–3 drinks before judging the result.
Activate every new AquaClean filter through the menu
Installing an AquaClean filter in the water tank isn't enough — the EP8757/20 doesn't automatically detect a newly installed filter.
Go to:
Menu → Maintenance → Remove Limescale → AquaClean → Install
Prepare the filter as instructed before activation. An unprepared filter can introduce air into the water circuit, causing excessive pump noise and potentially preventing the machine from brewing.
Use the built-in LatteGo Pro cleaning programme after milk drinks
Go to:
Menu → Maintenance → Clean LatteGo Pro
The machine runs hot water through the LatteGo Pro system. For a thorough clean, remove the milk system, separate the container from its frame and wash the components with lukewarm water and washing-up liquid or in the dishwasher.
The LatteGo Pro system should be cleaned after every use.
FAQ's
Why is my Philips Café Aromis 8000 coffee too weak or too strong?
Start with the drink's Customize settings rather than immediately changing the grinder. Depending on the selected drink, the EP8757/20 allows you to alter volume, strength and temperature.
You can also use Barista Assistant to match the brewing settings to your bean type and roast.
If you eventually adjust the grinder, remember that 1–6 are the finer settings for a stronger, more bitter result, while 7–12 produce a coarser grind suited to weaker, more acidic results and longer drinks. Only change one setting at a time while the grinder is running.
Why isn't my Café Aromis 8000 pumping water after changing the AquaClean filter?
Air may have entered the water circuit because the new AquaClean filter wasn't prepared correctly.
Remove the filter and test the machine without it. If water flow returns, correctly prepare and reinstall the filter and activate it through the Maintenance menu.
If Error 05 appears, restart the machine and, if water flow returns, dispense 2–3 cups of hot water. Error 05 can also occur when the AquaClean filter is incorrectly installed or blocked.
Why does the coffee grounds message stay on after I've emptied the container?
The grounds counter won't reset correctly if the container is emptied while the machine is switched off or is put back too quickly.
Leave the machine switched on, remove and empty the grounds container, then wait at least 5 seconds before replacing it. This allows the internal grounds counter to reset.
fault codes
Error 01 – Coffee funnel blocked
Ground coffee cannot move correctly through the coffee funnel. Switch the machine off and clean the coffee funnel thoroughly, removing compacted coffee.
Error 03 – Brew group dirty or incorrectly lubricated
Remove the brew group and clean it thoroughly. Make sure it moves freely and is correctly lubricated before reinstalling it.
Error 04 – Brew group not positioned correctly
The machine cannot correctly detect or operate the brew group. Remove it where possible, reset its position and carefully reinstall it until correctly seated.
Error 05 – Water circuit problem / air in the circuit
Check that the water tank is full and properly installed. If an AquaClean filter is fitted, remove it temporarily and try the machine again. Prime the water circuit by dispensing hot water where possible.
Error 05 – AquaClean Filter Problem
The Café Aromis 8000 can also show Error 05 when the AquaClean filter isn't installed correctly or has become clogged. Remove the filter and try brewing again. If the machine works normally without it, reinstall the filter correctly and retest. If the fault returns with the filter fitted, replace the filter. A new AquaClean filter must also be correctly prepared before installation to prevent air being drawn into the water circuit.
Error 11 – Machine needs to adjust to room temperature
Error 11 can appear when the machine needs time to adjust to room temperature, particularly after transportation or storage at a significantly different temperature. Switch the machine off and leave it for 30 minutes at room temperature before switching it back on. If Error 11 remains after the machine has acclimatised, further investigation is required.
Error 14 – Machine Overheated
Error 14 means the Café Aromis 8000 has overheated. Switch the machine off and leave it switched off for 30 minutes, then turn it back on and check whether the error has cleared. If Error 14 repeatedly returns after the machine has cooled, the machine requires further investigation rather than repeatedly resetting it.
Error 19 – Power Connection
Error 19 indicates that the machine isn't correctly connected to the mains supply. Check the small plug on the removable power cord where it connects to the socket at the rear of the machine and make sure it is pushed fully into position. If the connection is secure and Error 19 remains, further investigation is required.

Clean the Brew Group
The brew group is removable through the service door.
Remove the water tank and open the service door. Move the yellow locking handle to the right to unlock the brew group, then slide the brew group out.
Rinse it thoroughly under running water once a week, paying particular attention to accumulated coffee residue around the brew group flap.
Slide the group back into the machine until it clicks into position, then move the yellow handle to the left to lock it. Close the service door and refit the water tank.
Once a month, run the coffee-oil cleaning programme:
Menu → Maintenance → Remove Coffee Oil
The pre-ground coffee compartment should also be checked weekly because compacted grounds here can restrict the coffee path and trigger Error 01.
Clean LatteGo Pro
The Café Aromis 8000 uses dedicated LatteGo Pro hot and cold milk systems.
For the quick cleaning cycle:
Menu → Maintenance → Clean LatteGo Pro → Start
Place a cup underneath and follow the instructions on the screen. Small jets of hot water are passed through LatteGo Pro during cleaning.
For a deeper clean, remove LatteGo Pro, empty the remaining milk and press the release button to separate the milk container. Clean all parts under lukewarm running water with washing-up liquid or place the suitable components in the dishwasher.
When assembling LatteGo Pro, insert the top of the milk container beneath the hook on the frame and push the lower section into position until you hear it click.
Correct assembly is important because an incorrectly fitted container can leak.
Change the AquaClean Water Filter
The EP8757/20 requires each new AquaClean filter to be manually activated.
Go to:
Menu → Maintenance → Remove Limescale → AquaClean → Install
Follow the on-screen preparation procedure and soak the filter properly before installation. Failure to prepare the filter can cause the machine to draw air rather than water.
The machine monitors usage and requests replacement after approximately 95 litres have passed through the filter. Replace it at least every 3 months, even if the replacement notification hasn't appeared.
If AquaClean activation has been left too long, the machine may require a complete descale before a new filter can be activated.
Descale the Café Aromis 8000
When the machine requests descaling, go to:
Menu → Maintenance → Remove Limescale → Descale
Then follow the instructions shown on the display.
Don't interrupt the programme unnecessarily. If it is interrupted, thoroughly rinse the water tank, refill it with fresh water to the Calc/Clean level, switch the machine back on and perform a manual rinse.
Dispense approximately half a tank of hot water, then brew several pre-ground coffee cycles without putting coffee into the compartment.
An incomplete descale will result in the machine requesting another descaling procedure.
Set Up Personal Profiles
From the home screen select:
Profile +
Choose a profile colour and select up to 8 favourite drinks. Drink recipes brewed within a profile can then be retained rather than having to recreate your preferred settings each time.
Individual drinks can be personalised through the Customize option, with available adjustments including coffee volume, strength and temperature depending on the selected recipe.
Connect to HomeID
The EP8757/20 connects to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Add the coffee machine through the HomeID app and follow the pairing process. Once connected, additional functions include Barista Assistant recommendations, remote drink customisation and brewing, machine wake-up timers, more than 75 coffee-based recipes, additional profile personalisation and firmware updates.
Hot water is an exception: hot water cannot be dispensed remotely from the app.
