The 3200 Series allows the brewing temperature to be changed using the control panel. If coffee is consistently warm rather than hot, check this setting before investigating a heating fault.

With the machine switched off, press and hold the coffee quantity icon until its lights illuminate. Use the quantity icon to select the required temperature: one light is low, two lights medium and three lights high. Press Start/Stop to save the setting.

For troubleshooting, select the three-light/high setting and test another coffee.

If you suspect an actual heating fault, don't judge it from a latte or cappuccino alone. Dispense hot water from the Philips 3200 and compare it with a freshly prepared espresso.

If espresso and hot water are both noticeably cool despite the temperature being set to high, the problem is less likely to be simply the LatteGo milk cooling the finished drink. If hot water is properly hot but a milk drink seems cool, concentrate on the milk and cup temperature first.

A cold ceramic mug can take a surprising amount of heat from a small espresso. Use the Philips 3200 hot-water function to fill the cup, leave it briefly and empty it immediately before brewing.

This is particularly useful when making espresso or a smaller coffee because there is less hot liquid available to warm the cup. The Series 3200 troubleshooting guidance specifically recommends preheating the cup when coffee temperature is too low.

The LatteGo system uses cold milk from the container, and milk inevitably lowers the final drink temperature. Compare a straight espresso with a cappuccino or latte macchiato.

If the espresso is hot but the LatteGo drink seems cooler, the machine's coffee heater may be operating normally. Start with cold refrigerated milk as intended, but remember that a large quantity of milk relative to espresso will produce a cooler finished drink.

If the machine used to produce hotter coffee but has gradually become cooler, complete the Philips 3200 Calc/Clean descaling programme.

Scale inside the water circuit can affect heat transfer as well as water flow. Don't simply run descaler through by making drinks; use the machine's proper Calc/Clean cycle. The Series 3200 support documentation specifically identifies limescale as a possible cause of reduced coffee temperature.

There's an important difference between "my Philips 3200 coffee isn't hot enough" and "my Philips 3200 isn't heating at all."

Set the temperature to high, preheat the cup and test both espresso and hot water. If the machine still dispenses genuinely cold or barely warm water, that's beyond the normal temperature-adjustment troubleshooting. Once descaling has also been ruled out, an internal heating or temperature-control fault becomes more likely and the machine will require further diagnosis rather than repeated setting changes.
