Don't start brewing as soon as the machine is switched on. On the Café Genie 28760, the function indicators flash while the machine is heating and remain illuminated once the correct brewing temperature has been reached.

The Café Genie 28760 has a specific Brew Temperature Error. If you try to start a drink before the correct temperature has been reached, all the lights flash three times and the machine returns to preheat mode. Allow it to finish heating before selecting the drink again.

On the 26451, the P preheat icon and countdown segments indicate that the machine is heating. If you try to brew, steam or dispense hot water before the required temperature has been reached, the preheat and caution indications can appear. Wait for the machine to show that it is ready.

The 26451 requires a short cooling period after steaming or frothing and cannot brew immediately. After repeated steam use, the internal temperature can also become high enough to prevent further brewing until the machine cools. This behaviour can look like a temperature fault even though the machine is actually too hot rather than too cold.

If the machine is brewing normally but the coffee isn't as hot as expected, the 26451 manual recommends warming the portafilter. Fit the empty sieve and portafilter and run a brewing cycle for 5–10 seconds, then carefully remove it, fill it with coffee and brew normally.

If the machine continually remains in preheat, never reaches its ready state, or cannot produce hot water or steam even after sufficient warm-up time, that is different from the documented temporary preheat/cooling behaviour. The manuals don't provide a user repair procedure for an internal heating-system failure; they state that the product isn't user-serviceable.
