  • Check the drip tray first

    Many owners mistake a full drip tray for a leak. Saeco machines automatically perform rinsing cycles, so the drip tray fills during normal use. Empty it daily or whenever the red full indicator appears.

  • Make sure the water tank is fitted correctly

    Remove the water tank, check for debris around the valve and refit it securely. If the tank is not fully seated, water can escape during brewing.

  • Clean the brew group

    Coffee oils and residue can prevent the brew group from sealing correctly. Remove it, rinse it under clean water and allow it to dry before reinstalling. Saeco recommends cleaning the brew group every week and lubricating it regularly.

  • Inspect the drip tray and coffee grounds container

    Always empty both together. If either is overfilled or incorrectly fitted, water can spill from the front of the machine during rinsing or brewing.

  • Descale the machine when prompted

    Heavy limescale can restrict water flow, causing water to divert into places it shouldn't. Running the full descaling programme helps maintain proper pressure and water circulation.

  • Check the milk system after milk drinks

    If water or milk is leaking around the milk system, remove and clean the internal cappuccinatore, milk tube and HygieSteam components before refitting them correctly. The manuals recommend daily and weekly cleaning depending on the component.

  • Why is my Saeco coffee machine leaking water underneath?

    First check the drip tray, water tank and brew group. If these are clean and fitted correctly but water is still leaking onto the worktop, the machine may have an internal seal or hose issue that requires further inspection.

  • Is it normal for water to collect in the drip tray?

    Yes. During automatic rinsing and brewing, Saeco machines direct waste water into the drip tray. This is part of normal operation, so the tray should be emptied regularly.

  • Why is my Saeco leaking after making a cappuccino?
