Bosch TASSIMO Troubleshooting

If your Bosch TASSIMO coffee machine is not working correctly, start with these quick checks below to help identify the issue before moving to the full troubleshooting steps or your machine user manual.

1. Bosch TASSIMO Not Turning On

If your Bosch TASSIMO coffee machine has no lights showing and appears completely dead:

  • Press the Start/Stop button to wake the machine
  • Check the mains power supply
  • Unplug the machine for at least 10 seconds
  • Plug the machine back in and restart

If the lights are on but the machine still does not operate correctly, continue to Solution 3 below.

2. Bosch TASSIMO Machine On But Not Brewing

If your TASSIMO powers on but will not start making a drink:

Check the following:

  • Make sure a genuine T DISC pod is inserted
  • Ensure the machine was powered on before inserting the T DISC
  • Confirm the brew head is fully closed and locked

Clean the brewing area

  • Wipe the brewing unit and lid area using a soft damp cloth
  • Remove any coffee residue preventing proper closure

Barcode reading problems

Your TASSIMO reads the barcode on the T DISC to prepare the drink correctly.

Try the following:

  • Clean the barcode scanner carefully
  • Check the T DISC is not damaged
  • Smooth the foil lid gently so the barcode can be read properly
  • Try another T DISC pod

3. Bosch TASSIMO Not Dispensing Water

If the machine sounds like it is brewing but nothing comes out:

Check the water tank

  • Ensure the water tank is fully inserted
  • Fill with fresh cold water to the MAX level
  • Check the water tank float is moving freely
  • Clean the tank if the float is stuck

Do not remove the water tank while the machine is preparing a drink.

Bosch TASSIMO Warning Lights Explained

Most Bosch TASSIMO coffee machines use LED warning lights to indicate machine status and maintenance requirements.

Typical indicators include:

  • Cup/status light
  • Water tank light
  • Descaling/calc light

4. Red Cup Light Showing On Bosch TASSIMO

The cup-shaped status light indicates machine activity.

Normal operation

  • Flashing light → Machine is heating or preparing a drink

Red light

  • The machine has detected a problem
  • Follow the steps in Solution 2

5. Water Tank Light On Bosch TASSIMO

If the water tank warning light is illuminated:

  • Fill the tank with fresh cold water
  • Refit the water tank securely
  • Check the float inside the tank is not stuck

If the issue continues, follow Solution 3 above.

6. Bosch TASSIMO Descaling Light Flashing

If the calc or spray warning light is red or flashing:

  • Your TASSIMO requires descaling
  • Run the descaling programme as soon as possible

Ignoring the descaling warning can lead to:

  • Poor drink quality
  • Reduced water flow
  • Brewing faults
  • Internal limescale damage

7. Multiple Bosch TASSIMO Lights Flashing

Calc light and cup light flashing together

  • The descaling cycle is currently running
  • Wait until the cycle completes

Water tank and calc lights flashing together

  • The machine cannot prepare drinks correctly
  • Follow Solution 2 and check the T DISC system

All lights flashing

  • Possible power supply issue
  • Unplug the machine for 10 seconds
  • Reconnect and restart

If the problem continues, the machine may require professional inspection.

Bosch TASSIMO Drink Quality Problems

Regular cleaning and descaling are essential for consistent coffee quality and reliable machine operation.

8. Bosch TASSIMO Drink Quality Poor

If your coffee, tea or hot chocolate does not taste or look correct:

  • Clean the brewing unit thoroughly
  • Clean the beverage outlet
  • Remove visible coffee residue
  • Descale the machine if limescale is present

9. Bosch TASSIMO Drink Quantity Incorrect

If drinks are too small, too large or inconsistent:

Smaller drink

  • Press the Start/Stop button during brewing to stop early

Larger drink

  • Press and hold the Start/Stop button until the desired drink volume is reached

TASSIMO machines use the T DISC barcode to control standard drink volume automatically, but this can be adjusted manually to suit personal preference.
