quick tips

  • Warm the machine before brewing

Allow the machine to fully heat before making coffee. Running a small amount of hot water through the filter holder also helps preheat your cup for a hotter espresso.

  • Don't overfill the filter basket

Fill the basket to the recommended level and tamp the coffee lightly. Overfilling or compressing the coffee too firmly can restrict water flow and result in slow or no coffee dispensing.

  • Clean the filter basket after every use

Remove used coffee immediately after brewing and rinse the filter thoroughly. Coffee oils build up quickly and can block the fine holes in the basket.

  • Wipe the steam wand immediately

After frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth and purge a small amount of steam. This helps prevent dried milk from blocking the nozzle.

  • Descale regularly

If you live in a hard water area, descale the machine every 2–3 months. Regular descaling helps maintain water flow, brewing temperature and pump performance.

  • Empty the drip tray frequently

Don't allow the drip tray to overflow. Emptying and cleaning it regularly helps keep the machine hygienic and prevents unwanted odours.

FAQ's

  • Why is my Cookworks CM5010 making coffee very slowly?

Slow coffee dispensing is commonly caused by coffee that has been ground too finely, a blocked filter basket or limescale restricting water flow. Cleaning the filter and descaling the machine usually restores normal performance.

  • Why won't my Cookworks CM5010 froth milk properly?

Poor milk frothing is often caused by a partially blocked steam wand, insufficient steam temperature or incorrect frothing technique. Always wait until the machine reaches steam temperature and clean the steam wand after every use.

  • Why is my Cookworks espresso machine leaking around the filter holder?

Leaks around the filter holder are usually caused by coffee grounds trapped on the sealing surface, an overfilled filter basket or a worn group seal. Clean the sealing area before locking the filter holder into place.
