The Dolce Gusto Genio 2 is an automatic pod coffee machine designed to deliver consistent drinks at the touch of a button. It uses NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto capsules and operates at up to 15 bars of pressure, producing espresso, lungo and speciality drinks with good crema and flavour.
Unlike manual lever machines, the Genio 2 allows you to select drink volume automatically, making it simple to use while still requiring regular cleaning and descaling to maintain performance.

Dolce Gusto Genio 2 warning lights explained
The Genio 2 uses simple indicator lights to show machine status.
A flashing red light usually indicates the machine is heating up. Once the light turns solid green, the machine is ready to use.
An orange light indicates that descaling is required. Running a full descaling cycle will normally restore normal flow and performance.
If the machine continues flashing unexpectedly, switch it off, unplug it for a few minutes and restart. If the issue continues, further checks are required.

If the machine powers on but no water comes through, check the water tank is full and correctly fitted.
Limescale is the most common cause of restricted flow, followed by trapped air in the system or a blocked capsule needle. If the pump is running but no water is flowing, a full descaling cycle is usually required.

Leaks are commonly caused by damaged capsules, worn seals or coffee residue around the capsule holder.
Check the water tank is seated correctly and inspect the capsule area for build-up. If leaks continue after cleaning, internal seals may need replacement.

Cleaning and maintenance
Routine maintenance is essential to keep the Genio 2 working properly.
Empty and rinse the drip tray regularly, clean the water tank weekly and wipe the capsule holder after each use. Periodically clean the capsule piercing area to prevent blockages.
Descale the machine every 3–4 months or when the orange indicator appears. This helps maintain water flow, temperature and overall reliability.
