How to Clean a Melitta Solo & Perfect Milk Coffee Brewer

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Fresh clean water, a soft damp cloth, a suitable coffee machine cleaning tablet for the automatic cleaning programme and a container to collect rinse water. Allow approximately 15 minutes for the automatic programme.

SWITCH OFF THE MACHINE

Switch off your Melitta Solo & Perfect Milk and allow the machine to finish its shutdown process. Disconnect the power supply before manually cleaning the brewing unit.

REMOVE THE SIDE COVER

Locate the brewing unit access cover on the right-hand side of the machine. Pull the cover away towards the right to expose the removable brewing unit.

REMOVE THE BREWING UNIT

Press and hold the red button on the brewing unit handle. Turn the handle clockwise until it stops, then carefully pull the brewing unit out using the handle.

RINSE THE BREWING UNIT

Rinse the brewing unit thoroughly on all sides using clean water. Pay particular attention to areas where ground coffee collects, ensuring visible coffee residues are removed. Allow the brewing unit to drip dry naturally.

CLEAN THE BREWING COMPARTMENT

Remove loose coffee grounds and visible residues from inside the brewing compartment. Use a soft damp cloth where accessible, taking care around the internal mechanisms and electrical components.

REFIT THE BREWING UNIT

Slide the brewing unit back into position. Press and hold the red button, then turn the handle anticlockwise until it stops. Refit the side cover until it clicks securely into place.

AUTOMATIC COFFEE CLEANING PROGRAMME

The integrated cleaning programme removes coffee oils and residues from the internal coffee system. Run this approximately every two months or 200 coffees, or whenever the cleaning indicator appears.

PREPARE THE MACHINE

With the brewing unit clean and correctly installed, switch off the machine. Fill the water tank with fresh tap water to the MAX marking and refit it securely.

START THE CLEANING PROGRAMME

Press and hold the coffee dispensing button and the ON/OFF button simultaneously for longer than two seconds. The cleaning indicator will begin flashing and the drip tray indicator will illuminate.

EMPTY THE DRIP TRAY

Empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container. Reinsert the drip tray without the grounds container, then position the grounds container underneath the coffee outlet to collect the cleaning water.

ADD THE CLEANING TABLET

Allow the machine to complete its first two rinsing operations. When the ON/OFF indicator illuminates, remove the brewing unit and place one suitable coffee cleaning tablet into the brewing unit's designated tablet position. Reinstall and lock the brewing unit securely.

CONTINUE THE CLEANING CYCLE

When the water tank indicator illuminates, fill the water tank to the MAX marking. Press the steam button to continue. The next cleaning phase will run for approximately five minutes.

EMPTY THE CONTAINERS

When the drip tray indicator illuminates, empty the drip tray and grounds container. Refit the drip tray without the grounds container and position the grounds container beneath the coffee outlet again.

COMPLETE THE FINAL RINSE

Allow the final cleaning phase to finish. This takes approximately five minutes, with the middle coffee bean indicator flashing during the process. When the drip tray indicator illuminates, empty the drip tray and grounds container and refit both normally. The cleaning programme is complete.

How often should I clean the Melitta Solo & Perfect Milk brewing unit?
Clean the removable brewing unit approximately once a week to prevent coffee grounds and oils building up inside the brewing mechanism. The automatic coffee cleaning programme should also be completed approximately every two months or after 200 coffees, or whenever the cleaning indicator appears.
Can I wash the Melitta Solo & Perfect Milk brewing unit under running water?
Yes. The removable brewing unit can be rinsed thoroughly using clean water. Remove visible coffee residues, allow excess water to drain and ensure the brewing unit is correctly locked into position before using the machine again. Avoid using washing-up liquid or abrasive cleaning products on the brewing unit.
Why is my Melitta Solo & Perfect Milk still showing the cleaning indicator after cleaning the brewer?
Manually rinsing the brewing unit does not reset the automatic cleaning reminder. The machine requires the complete integrated coffee cleaning programme to be performed. Follow the cleaning sequence until the final stage has finished and the drip tray and grounds container have been reinstalled.
