How to Descale a Melitta Solo & Perfect Milk

Switch Off the Machine

Switch off the Melitta Solo & Perfect Milk. Remove the water filter from the water tank if fitted. Use Melitta ANTI CALC descaler and follow the safety and dosing instructions on its packaging.

Activate the Descaling Programme

With the machine switched off, press and hold the Steam button and On/Off button simultaneously for approximately 3 seconds. The descaling symbol flashes and the drip tray indicator illuminates.

Prepare the Drip Tray and Cappuccinatore

Empty and reinsert the drip tray. Place the coffee grounds container beneath the Cappuccinatore. Turn the Cappuccinatore control dial to the Hot Water position, with the hot water symbol pointing upwards.

Add the Descaling Solution

Remove and completely empty the water tank. Add Melitta ANTI CALC according to the descaler packaging instructions, then refit the tank. Press the Steam button to begin the first descaling phase, which takes approximately 15 minutes.

Open the Hot Water Valve

When the descaling indicator illuminates, ensure the coffee grounds container remains beneath the Cappuccinatore. Turn the valve switch clockwise fully open. Descaling solution flows intermittently through the Cappuccinatore for approximately 10 minutes.

Empty the Containers

When the drip tray indicator illuminates, empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container. Reinsert the drip tray and position the coffee grounds container beneath the Cappuccinatore again.

Rinse and Refill the Water Tank

Remove the water tank and rinse it thoroughly with clean water. Fill it with fresh tap water to the MAX marking and refit it. Press the Steam button to continue the programme. Rinsing water will flow through the Cappuccinatore.

Close the Valve

When the descaling indicator illuminates again, turn the valve switch anticlockwise until fully closed. The machine directs the remaining rinsing water internally into the drip tray.

Complete the Programme

When the drip tray indicator illuminates, empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container and reinsert them. The programme is complete when the standby indicator illuminates. Refit the water filter if previously removed.

How often should I descale my Melitta Solo & Perfect Milk?
Melitta recommends descaling approximately every three months, or whenever the descaling indicator illuminates. The frequency may depend on water hardness and machine usage. Correctly setting the water hardness helps the machine indicate when descaling is required.
How long does the Melitta Solo & Perfect Milk descaling programme take?
The integrated descaling programme takes approximately 30 minutes. It includes an initial descaling phase, circulation through the Cappuccinatore and a fresh-water rinsing phase. Allow the complete programme to finish before using the machine again.
Why won't my Melitta Solo & Perfect Milk start the descaling programme?
The machine must be switched off before activating the descaling programme. Press and hold the Steam and On/Off buttons together for approximately three seconds. If the programme still does not start, check that the drip tray is correctly fitted and follow the indicators shown on the machine.
