quick tips

  • Check the Milk Temperature

The JURA Z10 manual recommends a milk temperature of 4–8°C for producing fine, consistent milk foam. Use fresh, chilled milk and, where possible, a suitable milk container or cooler. Milk that is too warm may affect the quality and consistency of the foam.

  • Clean the Milk System Using the Z10 Maintenance Programme

Milk residue can build up inside the dual spout and restrict frothing performance. From the start screen, press the Rotary Switch, select the blue Maintenance section, then choose Clean the milk system. Follow the display instructions using the supplied cleaning container and JURA milk system cleaner. The manual specifies daily milk system cleaning whenever milk has been prepared.

  • Dismantle and Rinse the Dual Spout

If your Z10 produces insufficient foam or sprays milk from the dual spout, the manual specifically recommends dismantling and rinsing the milk system. Remove and rinse the milk pipe, release the dual spout cover, remove the milk system and separate its individual components. Rinse thoroughly under running water before reassembling. Check that the cover is correctly fitted afterwards.

  • Check the Milk Pipe and Connections

Make sure the milk pipe is securely connected to the dual spout and the milk container or cooler. Remove the pipe and rinse it thoroughly under running water. Check for visible residue, damage or poor connections that could interfere with milk delivery. The Z10 maintenance schedule also recommends replacing the HP3 milk pipe approximately every three months.

  • Reduce the Milk and Milk Foam Temperature Settings

The Z10 troubleshooting table identifies excessively high programmed milk and milk foam temperatures as another possible cause of insufficient foam. Open the settings for the affected milk-based speciality and select a lower milk or milk foam temperature. Test the drink again after making the adjustment.

  • Check for a Blocked Milk System Connector

If little or no steam comes from the dual spout and the pump is unusually quiet, the manual identifies a possible blockage in the milk system connector caused by milk residue or limescale fragments. The manual describes removing the milk system, unscrewing the black connector using the hexagonal opening on the ground-coffee measuring spoon, cleaning it and refitting it. Tighten it by hand, then turn it no more than a further quarter-turn using the spoon. Follow the manual carefully to avoid damaging the connector.

FAQ's

  • Why is my JURA Z10 producing milk but no foam?

The Z10 operating manual identifies a dirty dual spout and excessively high milk or milk foam temperature settings as possible causes of insufficient foam. Run the milk system cleaning programme, dismantle and rinse the dual spout if necessary, and try lowering the programmed milk foam temperature. Also ensure the milk is chilled to approximately 4–8°C.

  • How often should I clean the JURA Z10 milk system?

JURA specifies cleaning the milk system daily whenever milk has been prepared. The Z10 also automatically rinses the milk system approximately eight minutes after milk preparation, but this automatic rinse does not replace the daily cleaning programme. Regular cleaning helps prevent dried milk residue from affecting the dual spout.

  • Why is my JURA Z10 not producing steam for milk frothing?

If little or no steam comes from the dual spout and the pump is unusually quiet, the manual identifies a possible blockage in the milk system connector. This can result from milk residue or limescale fragments released during descaling. The manual provides a specific procedure for removing and cleaning the black connector. If the problem continues after following the manufacturer's instructions, professional inspection may be required.

Engineer's Tip

On the JURA Z10, poor milk frothing is often worth investigating at the dual spout before considering an internal machine fault. The manual specifically identifies milk residue, a dirty dual spout and incorrect temperature settings as causes of insufficient foam. If the machine is spraying milk, start with a complete milk system clean and dismantling of the dual spout. If little or no steam is produced and the pump is unusually quiet, investigate the black milk system connector using the manufacturer's procedure.
