krups Coffee Machine rinse error

Krups automatic machines can rinse during start-up, shutdown or as part of a cleaning programme. Don't remove the drip tray, water tank or switch the machine off while the rinse is running. Depending on the model, an automatic shutdown rinse may only last a few seconds and stops by itself.

If the rinse will not start or stops part-way through, remove the water tank, fill it with fresh water and refit it firmly. On Krups machines with a tank float, check that the float at the bottom of the tank moves freely. A incorrectly detected water tank can prevent the machine completing a water-dependent programme.

On many Krups automatic machines you can manually start the coffee-circuit rinse through PROG → Maintenance → Rinsing. On EA69xx machines, the coffee rinse runs approximately 40 ml of water before stopping automatically. Running a manual rinse is a useful check that water can pass through the coffee circuit normally.

A restricted Claris cartridge can reduce water flow through the machine. Krups troubleshooting specifically recommends changing the Claris cartridge when coffee flow is slow, alongside performing one or more rinse cycles. If the rinse repeatedly struggles or produces very little water, the filter should therefore be included in your checks.

If the rinse is part of the automatic coffee-circuit cleaning programme, allow the complete programme to finish. On EA84-series machines the programme contains a cleaning phase and a rinse phase and takes around 13 minutes. If power is interrupted, the machine resumes the stage that was in progress, and the programme must be completed.

On some Krups machines, CLEAN and CALC flashing together is specifically the request for the long rinsing programme. Fill and refit the water tank, place a container of at least 0.6 litres beneath the coffee outlets and steam nozzle, and start the programme. The long rinse takes approximately two minutes and the CLEAN/CALC lights go out when it has completed.
