The EA8108 doesn't have an automatic integrated milk system. Milk is textured using its removable steam nozzle, so keeping this assembly clean is particularly important.

After frothing milk:

1. Remove the milk from beneath the nozzle.
   
2. Put an empty container underneath.
   
3. Run steam again for approximately 10 seconds to purge residual milk.
   
4. Allow the nozzle to cool before handling it.
   
5. Remove the steam nozzle.
   
6. 
   Wash it using water, a small amount of non-abrasive washing-up liquid and a brush.
   
7. Rinse and dry it thoroughly.
   
8. Inspect the air inlet holes for dried milk.
   
9. Use the supplied cleaning needle if an inlet is blocked.
   
10. Refit the nozzle securely.
    

Don't put the steam nozzle in a dishwasher.

The EA8108 limits individual steam-production cycles to approximately two minutes.

Open the bean-hopper lid and locate the grind adjustment control.

Turn left → finer grind

This can increase extraction resistance and produce a stronger, creamier espresso.

Turn right → coarser grind

This allows water to pass through the coffee more easily and can help if dispensing has become excessively slow.

The critical EA8108 rule is:

Only adjust the dial while the grinder is operating.

Don't force the adjustment when the grinder is stationary.

For fault finding, change it gradually rather than moving immediately from one extreme to the other. Brew another coffee and assess the flow before making another change.

The EA8108 automatically requests its full cleaning programme by flashing the CLEAN indicator. The manual states that this is typically requested after roughly 300 coffee/espresso preparations.

You'll need a cleaning tablet and a container holding at least 600 ml.

When CLEAN flashes:

1. Start the cleaning programme using the maintenance control.
   
2. CLEAN becomes steady while the relevant action lights flash.
   
3. Remove, empty and clean the grounds container.
   
4. Empty and clean the drip tray.
   
5. Fill and reinstall the water tank.
   
6. Put a container of at least 600 ml beneath the coffee outlets.
   
7. Open the maintenance hatch.
   
8. Insert the XS3000 cleaning tablet into the cleaning chute.
   
9. Start the cycle.
   
10. Allow the machine to complete the automatic cleaning and rinsing sequence.
    

The cleaning stage takes approximately 13 minutes and includes several separate water deliveries.

Once completed, the CLEAN light goes out.

A flashing CALC light indicates that the machine has calculated that descaling is required. The interval therefore depends partly on water hardness rather than simply a fixed number of months.

The complete programme takes approximately 20 minutes and requires a container of at least 600 ml.

If a Claris Aqua Filter F088 is fitted, remove it before descaling.

The EA8108 programme has three main stages: an initial descaling phase of approximately 8 minutes, followed by a rinse of around 6 minutes, then a final rinse of around 6 minutes.

The machine uses its lights and audible beeps to tell you when to empty the waste container, rinse/refill the water tank and continue to the next stage.

Don't interrupt the programme. The manual notes that disconnecting the machine during descaling can cause the programme to restart from the beginning.

The EA8108 can be used with the Claris Aqua Filter System F088 cartridge.

The cartridge fits inside the water tank. When replacing it, remove the tank, take out the old cartridge and fit the replacement securely in its position at the bottom of the reservoir.

After fitting a new cartridge, the water circuit needs to be correctly primed/rinsed before normal coffee preparation.

Remember to remove the filter cartridge before running the EA8108 descaling programme.

The EA8108 is a compact automatic bean-to-cup espresso machine using the Compact Thermoblock System, a 15-bar pump and an integrated metal-burr coffee grinder. It prepares ristretto at approximately 20–30 ml, espresso at 30–70 ml, and coffee/lungo at 80–220 ml, with a two-cup function that performs two complete brewing cycles.
