quick tips

  • Check the water container is fully seated

The CM5510 is sensitive to the position of the water container. Remove the tank, refill it if necessary and push it firmly back into place. If it is sitting too high or not correctly aligned, the machine may not draw water properly.

  • Clean the water container seating area

Remove the water container and inspect the compartment underneath. Limescale, coffee residue or moisture around the seating surface can prevent the tank from sitting correctly. Wipe the area clean before refitting the container.

  • Clean the water container filter

The CM5510 has a removable water container filter that should be cleaned regularly. A blocked filter can restrict water entering the machine and may cause reduced flow or prevent water being pumped altogether.

  • Check for an F10 or F17 fault

If the display shows F10 or F17, the machine is detecting insufficient water entering the system. Check the water container, clean the water container filter and ensure the tank is correctly installed before restarting the machine.

  • Descale the machine if water flow has gradually reduced

If coffee has slowly become weaker or water flow has reduced over time, limescale inside the heating and water circuit may be restricting flow. Complete the full descaling programme using the recommended descaling product.

  • Listen to the pump

If you can hear the pump running but little or no water reaches the coffee outlet, the blockage may be further along the water circuit or within the coffee outlet itself. If the pump is completely silent, further diagnosis of the electrical or pump system may be required.

FAQ's

  • Why does my CM5510 say "Fill and replace the water container" when it is already full?

This usually indicates the water container is not being detected correctly. Remove and refit the tank, clean the seating area and water container filter, and ensure the tank is fully inserted.

  • My machine makes pump noise but no coffee comes out. Why?

If the pump is operating but little or no coffee is dispensed, water flow may be restricted by limescale, a blockage within the coffee circuit or a blocked coffee outlet. Cleaning and descaling should be completed before assuming a component has failed.

  • Does descaling help if my machine is not pumping water?

Yes. If water flow has gradually reduced over time, limescale is one of the most common causes. Completing the full descaling programme often restores normal water flow where scale is restricting the internal water circuit.

fault codes

  • F10 – Water Intake Fault

F10 indicates the machine is unable to draw sufficient water into the system. Check the water container, clean the water container filter and ensure the tank is correctly seated before restarting the machine.

  • F17 – Water Flow Fault

F17 indicates insufficient water flow through the machine. This can be caused by a blocked filter, restricted water circuit, air in the system or limescale affecting water flow.

Engineer Tip

If your CM5510 has gradually stopped pumping water rather than failing suddenly, begin with the water container, filter and a complete descale before considering pump replacement. In many cases, restricted water flow is caused by maintenance issues rather than a failed pump, making these simple checks the best place to start.
