quick tips

  • Rinse the LatteGo After Every Milk Drink

The LatteGo milk system has just two parts and no milk tubes. Philips recommends rinsing it immediately after preparing milk drinks to prevent milk residue drying inside the system.

  • Activate Every New AquaClean Filter

Replacing the AquaClean filter isn't enough on its own. You must activate the new filter through the machine menu, otherwise the machine will continue counting towards the next descaling cycle.

  • Only Adjust the Grinder While Grinding

The ceramic grinder should only be adjusted while it is actively grinding coffee beans. Turning the adjustment dial when the grinder is stationary can damage the adjustment mechanism.

  • Remove and Rinse the Brew Group Weekly

One of the LatteGo 5400's biggest advantages is its removable brew group. Philips recommends removing it regularly, rinsing it with lukewarm water and allowing it to air dry before refitting.

  • Avoid Oily Coffee Beans

Very dark roasted or flavoured beans leave oily deposits inside the grinder and brew group. Using quality beans intended for bean-to-cup machines helps maintain reliable grinding and consistent coffee quality.

FAQ's

  • Why does my Philips LatteGo 5400 rinse itself every time it turns on and off?

This is normal operation. The automatic rinse cycle helps keep the coffee circuit clean and ensures fresh coffee is brewed each time you use the machine.

  • How often should I descale my Philips LatteGo 5400?

If you're using an AquaClean filter and replacing it when prompted, you can significantly reduce how often descaling is required. Without an AquaClean filter, the machine will notify you when a descaling cycle is needed based on usage.

  • Can I put the LatteGo milk system in the dishwasher?

Yes. The LatteGo milk system is designed for easy cleaning and the individual parts are dishwasher safe. Rinsing the milk system after each use will also help maintain milk quality and prevent blockages.
