quick tips

  • Use fresh, cold water

Ensure every day you use fresh, cold water for the best coffee flavour and to help reduce limescale build-up.

  • Empty waste daily

Empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container daily, even if they don't appear full, as the machine tracks these together.

  • Never swicth off immediately after coffee

Never switch the machine off at the mains immediately after making coffee. Allow it to complete its automatic rinse cycle first.

  • milk system

Clean the milk system after every milk drink to prevent blockages and maintain smooth milk froth.

  • FReshly roasted beans

Only fill the bean hopper with roasted coffee beans. Avoid ground coffee, flavoured beans or caramelised beans as these can damage the grinder.

  • brewer care

Remove and rinse the brewing unit regularly under clean running water only. Do not use detergent.

FAQ's

  • Why does my Siemens EQ300 rinse itself when I switch it on or off?

The EQ300 automatically performs a rinse cycle to keep the coffee system clean and maintain coffee quality. This is normal operation and helps remove coffee residues from the brewing system. Place a cup under the coffee outlet if you want to catch the rinse water.

  • How often should I clean and descale my Siemens EQ300?

The machine will automatically tell you when cleaning, descaling or a combined care programme is required. Complete these programmes as soon as they appear using the recommended Siemens cleaning tablets and descaling products to maintain performance and help prevent faults.

  • Can I remove and wash the brewing unit?

Yes. The brewing unit should be removed regularly and rinsed thoroughly under clean running water. Do not use washing-up liquid or place it in a dishwasher. Allow it to dry before reinstalling it to ensure reliable operation and consistent coffee quality.

fault codes

  • Close door

What it means: The service door isn't fully closed, preventing the machine from operating.

How to fix it: Firmly press the service door until it clicks into place. Check that nothing is obstructing the door and that the brewing unit is correctly installed.

    Empty trays

What it means: The machine still believes the drip tray or coffee grounds container is full.

How to fix it: With the machine switched on, remove the drip tray and coffee grounds container, empty them if required, then reinsert them fully. The machine only detects the tray when powered on.

    Fill water tank

What it means: The machine cannot detect enough water for brewing.

How to fix it: Refill the tank with fresh tap water and make sure it is fully inserted. If the tank is already full, clean the tank, check the float moves freely and avoid using sparkling water. If you've recently fitted a new water filter, rinse and prime it before use.

  • Fill water tank (LEDs flashing)

What it means: The machine cannot draw water into the system.

How to fix it: Ensure the water tank is fitted correctly and filled with fresh still water. If a water filter has been installed, remove any trapped air by priming the filter before refitting. The hydraulic system may also need to refill after running dry.

    Clean brewing unit

What it means: The brewing unit requires cleaning or has become difficult to move.

How to fix it: Remove the brewing unit, rinse it thoroughly under running water and allow it to dry before reinstalling. Never use detergent. Regular cleaning helps prevent the mechanism from becoming stiff.

    Incorrect voltage

What it means: The machine is receiving an unsuitable power supply.

How to fix it: Only operate the Siemens EQ300 using a standard 220–240V mains supply. If the problem persists, avoid extension leads and try another wall socket.

  • Device too cold

What it means: The machine is below its minimum operating temperature.

How to fix it: Move the machine to a warmer room and allow it to reach room temperature before switching it on. The EQ300 should only be used at temperatures above 5°C.

    Restart appliance

What it means: The brewing unit cannot initialise correctly, often because it is heavily soiled.

How to fix it: Switch the machine off, wait a few seconds and switch it back on. If possible, remove and clean the brewing unit before restarting.

    Display messages keep changing

What it means: The machine has been placed into demonstration (Demo) mode.

How to fix it: Press and hold the Start button for at least 5 seconds to exit Demo mode and return the machine to normal operation.
