how to clean a de'longhi dinamica brewer

  • Step 1 — Switch the Dinamica Off Correctly

Switch the Dinamica off using the machine's power button.

Allow the complete automatic shutdown sequence to finish.

Do not simply unplug the machine while it is operating.

During the shutdown procedure, the internal brewing mechanism moves into its correct resting position. The infuser may be difficult or impossible to remove if this sequence hasn't been completed.

  • Step 2 — Disconnect the Machine

Once the Dinamica has completely finished its shutdown sequence, disconnect it from the mains power supply before cleaning.

Never attempt to clean internal parts while the machine is operating.

  • Step 3 — Remove the Water Tank

Remove the water tank from the Dinamica.

The infuser access door is located on the right-hand side of the machine behind the water tank.

    Set the water tank aside.

  • Step 4 — Open the Infuser Door

With the water tank removed, open the infuser access door.

You should now be able to see the removable brewing unit inside the machine.

Do not attempt to dismantle any surrounding internal components.

  • Step 5 — Release the Infuser

Locate the two coloured release buttons on the sides of the infuser.

Press both release buttons inwards at the same time.

While holding them in, gently pull the infuser towards you and out of the machine.

    Do not force it.

  • If the Infuser Will Not Come Out

If the infuser feels locked in position, stop pulling it.

This commonly happens when the Dinamica hasn't completed its correct shutdown sequence.

Close the access door and refit the water tank.

Turn the machine back on and allow it to complete its full start-up sequence.

Then switch it off again using the power button and wait until the complete shutdown sequence has finished.

Remove the water tank and try removing the infuser again.

Never force the infuser out of the machine.

  • Step 6 — Soak the Infuser

Place the removed infuser into clean water.

Allow it to soak for approximately 5 minutes.

This helps soften accumulated coffee residue before rinsing.

Do not add washing-up liquid, coffee cleaning detergent, descaler or any other cleaning chemical to the water.

  • Step 7 — Rinse the Infuser

After soaking, thoroughly rinse the infuser underneath running tap water.

Allow water to pass over and through the accessible parts of the brewing unit.

Concentrate particularly on areas where loose coffee grounds and residue have accumulated.

Continue rinsing until the visible loose coffee residue has been removed.

  • Important — Use Water Only

    The Dinamica instructions specifically state:

RINSE WITH WATER ONLY — NO WASHING-UP LIQUID — NO DISHWASHER.

    Do not use:

    • Washing-up liquid
    • Coffee cleaning tablets
    • Milk-system cleaner
    • Descaler
    • Household cleaning chemicals
    • Dishwasher detergent

Detergent can damage the infuser and interfere with the lubrication required by its moving components.

  • Step 8 — Clean the Infuser Housing

While the infuser is removed, look inside the infuser housing through the open service door.

Loose coffee grounds can accumulate inside this area.

Use a suitable cleaning brush to gently remove visible coffee residue from the housing.

Concentrate on loose accessible coffee grounds rather than attempting to dismantle or clean components deeper inside the machine.

  • Step 9 — Check the Infuser Before Refitting

    Inspect the cleaned infuser.

    Make sure:

    • Loose coffee grounds have been removed
    • There is no heavy accumulation of coffee residue
    • The coloured release buttons move correctly
    • Nothing appears incorrectly positioned or damaged

The infuser should be reinstalled as a complete assembly. It does not need to be dismantled for routine cleaning.

  • Step 10 — Refit the Infuser

Position the infuser onto its internal support inside the Dinamica.

    Slide it into position.

Press firmly on the area marked PUSH until the infuser clicks securely into place.

Do not force the unit if it does not align correctly.

  • If the Infuser Will Not Fit Back In

If the infuser appears too large or incorrectly positioned to slide back onto its support, do not force it into the machine.

Before inserting it, gently adjust it to the correct size by pressing the two levers on the infuser as shown in the Dinamica instructions.

Then position the infuser onto its internal support and press the PUSH symbol until it clicks into place.

  • Step 11 — Check the Release Buttons

Once the infuser has clicked into position, check the two coloured release buttons.

Both buttons should have snapped back outwards.

If they remain pressed inward, the infuser may not be correctly locked into position.

Do not close the machine until the infuser is correctly seated.

  • Step 12 — Close the Infuser Door

Close the infuser access door securely.

Make sure nothing is obstructing the door and that the infuser is fully installed before closing it.

  • How Often Should I Clean the Dinamica Infuser?

Clean the infuser at least once a month.

If the machine is used heavily, it is sensible to inspect the brewing area more frequently for loose coffee grounds and residue.

Regular cleaning prevents large amounts of old coffee residue accumulating around the brewing mechanism.

  • Can I Put the Dinamica Infuser in the Dishwasher?

    No.

The Dinamica infuser should not be cleaned in a dishwasher.

    Rinse it using water only.

Dishwasher detergent and other cleaning chemicals can damage the brewing unit and interfere with lubrication on its moving components.

  • Can I Use a Coffee Cleaning Tablet on the Dinamica Infuser?

Do not apply a coffee cleaning tablet or detergent directly to the removable Dinamica infuser.

For routine infuser cleaning, the specified procedure is to soak it in water for approximately five minutes and then rinse it under the tap.

This is different from machines that use an automatic coffee-cleaning-tablet programme.
