Leave the milk carafe correctly fitted to the front of the Dinamica.

You do not need to empty the remaining milk from the container before running the CLEAN function.

Place an empty cup or suitable container underneath the milk spout.

The cleaning process uses hot water and steam, which will be discharged through the milk spout.

Take care: the liquid and steam released during cleaning can be hot.

Turn the froth adjustment dial on top of the milk carafe to the CLEAN position when prompted by the machine.

The Dinamica will begin cleaning the internal tubes within the milk-container lid.

Allow the cleaning programme to run.

Do not remove the milk carafe while the CLEAN cycle is operating.

The Dinamica automatically flushes the milk circuit.

Hot water and steam pass through the internal milk pathways and out through the milk spout to help remove milk left inside the system.

Allow the cleaning process to finish before moving the dial.

Once cleaning has finished, turn the froth adjustment dial away from CLEAN and back to the required milk/froth position.

If you have finished using the milk system, remove the milk carafe from the machine.

If usable milk remains in the container, return the milk carafe to the refrigerator rather than leaving it attached to the coffee machine.

The CLEAN programme flushes the milk pathways in the lid; it does not mean that milk can safely be left unrefrigerated.

The automatic CLEAN function is important, but it does not replace physically cleaning the milk-carafe components.

If milk isn't dispensing correctly or froth quality has deteriorated, the milk-container lid and milk pathways are particularly important areas to inspect and clean.

Remove the complete milk carafe from the Dinamica.

If milk remains inside, empty it or transfer it appropriately before dismantling the carafe.

Work on a clean surface so that the small milk-system components aren't lost.

Lift the lid away from the milk container.

The lid contains the milk pathways and frothing components, so simply rinsing the milk container itself isn't sufficient.

Remove the milk intake tube from the underside of the lid.

This is the tube that reaches down into the milk inside the carafe.

Inspect the tube carefully.

There should be no dried milk or residue restricting the inside of the tube.

Remove the milk delivery spout from the carafe lid.

Check the opening for dried milk deposits.

A restriction here can reduce milk delivery even though the machine itself appears to operate normally.

Turn the froth adjustment dial to the INSERT position.

Pull the dial upwards to remove it from the milk-container lid.

Removing the dial exposes the areas underneath that need to be cleaned rather than simply wiping the visible surface.

Step 12 — Clean the Milk Components

Thoroughly wash the dismantled milk-system components.

Pay particular attention to:

• The milk intake tube
• The milk delivery spout
• The froth adjustment dial
• The milk-container lid
• The channels and openings underneath the adjustment dial

Milk residue can dry inside these relatively small passages and interfere with the air and milk flow required for correct frothing.

Look carefully at the groove and recessed area underneath the froth adjustment dial.

There should be no visible milk residue remaining in this area.

This is an important part of the milk system because contamination around the froth-control mechanism can affect how milk and air are mixed.

Rinse the area where the froth adjustment dial sits with running water.

Make sure water can reach the internal surfaces and that loosened milk residue has been completely removed.

Don't simply wipe around the top of the lid — the internal areas need to be clean.

Inspect the milk intake tube again before reassembly.

Make sure the tube is completely clear and that there is no dried milk inside it.

A blocked or partially restricted intake tube can cause:

• Poor milk delivery
• Intermittent milk flow
• Excessive steam
• Reduced froth
• No milk from the spout

Inspect the milk delivery spout in the same way.

The passage through the spout should be clear of milk residue.

If the Dinamica appears to be operating normally but very little milk reaches the cup, the milk spout and milk-container lid are particularly important areas to check.

Rinse away all loosened milk residue and washing-up liquid.

Make sure the small passages within the milk-system components are thoroughly rinsed rather than concentrating only on their external surfaces.

Once the parts are clean, refit the froth adjustment dial.

Align it with the INSERT position and make sure it sits correctly in the milk-container lid.

The dial should then be able to move normally between its froth settings and CLEAN position.

Refit the milk delivery spout to the lid.

Reconnect the milk intake tube underneath the lid.

Make sure both components are pushed completely into their correct positions.

A tube that has been left loose after cleaning can cause poor or inconsistent milk delivery.

Place the cleaned and reassembled lid back onto the milk container.

Make sure it is fitted correctly before reinstalling the carafe on the Dinamica.

Don't concentrate exclusively on the removable milk carafe.

The connection between the carafe and the Dinamica should also be kept clean.

With the milk carafe removed, inspect the accessible connection area on the front of the machine.

Wipe away visible milk contamination with a clean damp cloth or sponge.

Do not pour water directly into the machine or insert objects deeply into the connection.

Once everything has been cleaned and correctly reassembled:

1. Add fresh refrigerated milk to the carafe.
2. Refit the lid.
3. Attach the milk carafe securely to the Dinamica.
4. Select an appropriate froth setting.
5. Prepare a milk-based drink.
6. Check that milk delivery is continuous and the froth is being produced correctly.
7. Run the CLEAN cycle again after the test.
