WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Fresh drinking water, a clean container or bowl and a soft cleaning brush. Do not use washing-up liquid, cleaning products or a dishwasher on the removable brewer.

01

SWITCH THE MACHINE OFF CORRECTLY

Switch your Eletta Explore off using its normal power control and allow the complete shutdown sequence to finish. The brewer must only be removed when the machine has shut down correctly.

02

REMOVE THE WATER TANK

Take the water tank out of the machine. This gives you access to the brewer compartment on the right-hand side of the Eletta Explore.

03

OPEN THE BREWER FLAP

Open the infuser access flap on the right-hand side of the machine. You should now be able to see the removable brewing unit inside.

04

REMOVE THE BREWER

Press both coloured release buttons inwards at the same time, then carefully pull the brewing unit towards you and out of the machine.

ENGINEER'S NOTE

If the brewer does not release easily, do not force it. Refit the water tank, close the machine, switch it on and then perform a complete normal shutdown before trying again. The brewer needs to be in its parked position before it can be removed.

05

SOAK FOR AROUND 5 MINUTES

Place the brewer in fresh water for around five minutes. This helps loosen coffee oils and compacted coffee residue from the moving parts and internal surfaces.

06

RINSE WITH WATER ONLY

Rinse the brewer thoroughly under running water, working the water around the screens, channels and moving sections to remove loose coffee residue.

07

CLEAN THE BREWER COMPARTMENT

While the brewer is removed, inspect the compartment inside the machine. Use a soft brush to carefully remove loose coffee grounds and residue from around the brewer housing.

08

REFIT THE BREWER

Slide the clean brewer back into its housing, then press firmly on the area marked PUSH until the unit clicks securely into position.

09

CHECK IT IS LOCKED IN PLACE

Check that both coloured release buttons have sprung back out. This confirms that the brewing unit is correctly locked into position.

10

REASSEMBLE THE MACHINE

Close the brewer access flap and reinstall the water tank. The Eletta Explore is now ready to be switched back on.

FAQ's

  • How often should I clean the brewer in my De'Longhi Eletta Explore?

Clean the removable brewer at least once a month. If you use the machine heavily, it is also worth checking the brewer compartment regularly for loose coffee grounds and residue. Keeping this area clean helps the brewer move freely and reduces the build-up of old coffee deposits.

  • Why can't I remove the brewer from my Eletta Explore?

The brewer cannot be removed while the machine is switched on and may also be difficult to remove if the machine has not completed its normal shutdown sequence. Do not force it. Refit the water tank, switch the machine on, allow it to initialise and then switch it off normally. Wait until shutdown has completely finished before trying to remove the brewer again.

  • Can I use washing-up liquid or a dishwasher to clean the Eletta Explore brewer?

No. Clean the removable brewer using water only. Soak it in fresh water for around five minutes and then rinse it thoroughly under the tap. Detergents and dishwasher cleaning can damage the brewing unit.
