WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Warm drinking water, mild washing-up liquid and a clean soft cloth. For a deeper clean, use a suitable milk system cleaner where required.

01

RUN CLEAN AFTER MILK DRINKS

After preparing a milk drink, leave the milk carafe connected when the Eletta Explore asks you to clean the milk system. Position a suitable container beneath the milk spout.

02

TURN THE DIAL TO CLEAN

Turn the milk adjustment dial to the CLEAN position when prompted. The machine will deliver hot water and steam through the milk spout to rinse the internal milk circuit.

Allow the cleaning cycle to finish before removing the carafe.

ENGINEER'S NOTE

The automatic CLEAN function is an important rinse after making milk drinks, but it does not replace periodically dismantling and thoroughly cleaning the milk carafe and its removable components.

03

REMOVE THE MILK CARAFE

For a thorough clean, remove the milk carafe from the Eletta Explore. Empty any milk that is no longer being stored and separate the lid from the milk container.

04

DISMANTLE THE CARAFE

Remove the milk spout and milk intake tube from the carafe lid. Turn the milk adjustment dial to the removal position and lift it away from the lid.

Take your time to separate the removable parts rather than attempting to clean the assembled lid as one piece.

05

CHECK THE MILK PASSAGES

Inspect the milk spout, intake tube and openings in the carafe lid. Dried milk deposits can restrict these small passages and are a common cause of poor milk delivery or reduced froth.

06

WASH THE COMPONENTS

Wash the dismantled components thoroughly using hot water and mild washing-up liquid. Pay particular attention to the milk intake tube, milk spout, adjustment dial and the channels within the lid.

Make sure there are no visible milk residues remaining on or inside the components.

07

CLEAN THE MILK CONTAINER

Wash the inside of the milk container thoroughly, including the areas around the top where the carafe lid fits. Rinse away all detergent residue with clean water.

08

RINSE AND DRY

Rinse all of the components thoroughly with fresh water. Allow the parts to drain and dry before putting the milk carafe back together.

09

REASSEMBLE THE CARAFE

Refit the milk adjustment dial, milk spout and intake tube to the carafe lid. Make sure each component is fully seated and that the intake tube is securely connected.

10

REFIT AND TEST

Refit the lid to the milk container and reconnect the carafe to the Eletta Explore. When you next prepare a milk drink, check that milk is being drawn consistently and that the froth is dispensing normally.

11

STORE MILK CORRECTLY

If milk remains in the carafe after use, remove the carafe from the machine and return it to the refrigerator promptly. Do not leave milk sitting in the carafe at room temperature for extended periods.

FAQ's

  • Do I need to clean the Eletta Explore milk system after every milk drink?

Run the CLEAN procedure when prompted after preparing milk drinks. This flushes the milk delivery circuit with hot water and steam and helps prevent milk residue building up inside the system. The milk carafe should also be dismantled and cleaned regularly because the automatic rinse does not thoroughly clean every removable component.

  • Why is my Eletta Explore producing poor or bubbly milk foam?

Check the milk intake tube, milk spout, adjustment dial and passages in the carafe lid for dried milk deposits. Even a small restriction can interfere with milk flow and air intake. Thoroughly dismantle and clean the carafe before changing machine settings or assuming there is a fault.

  • Can I leave the Eletta Explore milk carafe attached to the machine?

Don't leave milk sitting at room temperature unnecessarily. Once you've finished preparing milk drinks and completed the cleaning procedure, remove the carafe and refrigerate it if it still contains usable milk. Periodically empty and dismantle the carafe so all of the milk-contact components can be thoroughly cleaned.
