WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Warm drinking water, a mild washing-up detergent, a clean soft cloth or paper towel, and access to a dishwasher if using the dishwasher cleaning method.

01

REMOVE THE MILK CONTAINER

Remove the milk container from the machine using the release buttons on the sides. If milk remains in the container, store it appropriately before dismantling the milk system for cleaning.

02

REMOVE THE MILK LID

Remove the milk container lid and separate the refill lid. Take care not to force any of the locating tabs or connections as the milk system is dismantled.

03

REMOVE THE ASPIRATION TUBE

Disconnect the aspiration tube from the underside of the milk lid. Check the tube for visible milk residue or restriction while it is removed.

04

REMOVE THE MILK SPOUT

Move the milk spout into the vertical position and carefully remove it from the milk lid. Milk deposits can collect inside the spout, so it needs to be cleaned separately rather than simply wiping the outside.

05

REMOVE THE CONNECTOR

Unlock and remove the connector from the side of the milk container lid. The milk system should now be separated into its removable components ready for thorough cleaning.

06

RINSE AWAY MILK RESIDUE

Rinse the dismantled components with drinking water to remove loose milk residue. Pay particular attention to the aspiration tube, milk spout, connector and small openings where dried milk can restrict the flow of milk or air.

07

CLEAN THE MILK SYSTEM

For dishwasher cleaning, place the six dismantled milk-system components in the upper tray and use a high-temperature programme of approximately 50–60°C. Alternatively, soak the components in hot drinking water with a mild washing-up detergent for at least 30 minutes.

08

CHECK THE AIR INLET

Inspect the air inlet and make sure it is completely clean and unobstructed. A build-up of dried milk around the small air passages can affect the way air is drawn into the milk system and result in poor or inconsistent milk foam.

09

RINSE THOROUGHLY

If the components have been hand washed, rinse each part thoroughly with fresh drinking water to remove detergent and loosened milk residue. Make sure water can pass freely through the milk spout and aspiration tube.

10

DRY THE COMPONENTS

Dry all parts using a clean cloth or paper towel. Check the components again while they are dismantled and make sure there is no visible milk residue remaining around the connections or openings.

11

REASSEMBLE THE MILK SYSTEM

Refit the connector, milk spout, aspiration tube, refill lid and milk container lid in their correct positions. Make sure each component is seated securely before refitting the complete milk container to the machine.

ENGINEER'S NOTE

Milk residue becomes much harder to remove once it has dried inside the small passages of the Lattissima One milk system. Cleaning the removable components soon after preparing milk drinks helps prevent restrictions and keeps the milk and air paths clear.

FAQ's

  • How often should I clean the De'Longhi Lattissima One milk system?

Clean the milk system after preparing milk drinks rather than allowing milk residue to dry inside it. If the machine is not going to be used again shortly after preparing milk, dismantle and clean the removable milk-system components. Regular cleaning is particularly important around the milk spout, aspiration tube and air inlet because small deposits can affect milk delivery and foam quality.

  • Can I put the Lattissima One milk container in the dishwasher?

The six removable milk-system components can be cleaned in the upper tray of a dishwasher using a high-temperature programme of approximately 50–60°C. If washing by hand, soak the dismantled components in hot drinking water with a mild washing-up detergent for at least 30 minutes, then rinse them thoroughly with fresh water before drying and reassembling.

  • Why is my Lattissima One not frothing milk properly after cleaning?

First check that every part of the milk system has been reassembled and seated correctly. Pay particular attention to the aspiration tube, milk spout, connector and air inlet. Even a small amount of dried milk in the air path can interfere with the air-to-milk mixture and produce weak, inconsistent or reduced milk foam.

Engineer Tip

The small air passages are just as important as the visible milk passages when cleaning the Lattissima One. If milk delivery still works but the foam quality has deteriorated, inspect the air inlet carefully before assuming there is a machine fault. Dried milk in this area can restrict the air entering the system even when the aspiration tube and milk spout appear clean.
