How to Clean a De'Longhi Magnifica Evo Milk System
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Warm drinking water, washing-up liquid, a clean container or bowl, and your De'Longhi Magnifica Evo LatteCrema Hot milk carafe.
RUN CLEAN AFTER A MILK DRINK
When the CLEAN indicator flashes after preparing a milk drink, leave the milk carafe attached to the Magnifica Evo and place a suitable cup or container underneath the milk spout.
Press CLEAN. The machine automatically delivers hot water and steam through the milk spout to clean the internal milk pathway.
Allow the cleaning cycle to stop automatically.
REMOVE THE MILK CARAFE
Once the automatic cleaning cycle has finished, remove the LatteCrema Hot carafe from the machine.
If milk remains and you are not carrying out the full clean immediately, place the carafe in the refrigerator. De'Longhi specifies that remaining milk should be used within a maximum of 2 days.
REMOVE THE CARAFE LID
For the thorough clean, empty any remaining milk if required.
Turn the milk-carafe lid clockwise to release it, then lift the lid away from the milk container.
REMOVE THE MILK INTAKE TUBE
Pull the milk intake tube out of the underside of the carafe lid.
Check the tube carefully for milk residue, particularly if milk delivery or foam quality has recently deteriorated.
REMOVE THE MILK SPOUT
Turn the milk spout at right angles and pull it out of the carafe lid.
Check inside the outlet as well as its visible end. Dried milk inside the spout can interfere with milk delivery and frothing.
REMOVE THE CARAFE CONNECTOR
Press the release button and separate the connector from the milk-carafe assembly.
Inspect the connector and its passages for dried milk or other residue.
RINSE THE COMPONENTS
Rinse the milk container and dismantled components thoroughly under drinking water at a temperature of at least 40°C.
When rinsing the lid, make sure water passes through the openings and internal pathways rather than simply rinsing the outside surfaces.
HAND WASH THE MILK SYSTEM
Immerse the dismantled components in drinking water at a temperature of at least 40°C with washing-up liquid.
Leave the components soaking for at least 30 minutes.
After soaking, rinse every component thoroughly with drinking water.
IMPORTANT
The automatic CLEAN cycle does not replace dismantling and thoroughly washing the LatteCrema Hot carafe. Both cleaning procedures are important for maintaining the milk system.
OR USE THE DISHWASHER
The approved dishwasher method can be used instead of hand washing.
First rinse the milk container and dismantled components under drinking water at a temperature of at least 40°C.
Place the components in the top basket of the dishwasher and use a programme at approximately 50°C, such as a standard ECO programme.
CHECK THE MILK PATHWAYS
Before reassembling the carafe, inspect the milk intake tube, milk outlet, connector and openings in the lid.
There should be no visible dried milk or obstruction remaining in the milk or air pathways.
REASSEMBLE THE LATTECREMA CARAFE
Once everything is clean, reassemble the components in their correct positions.
Refit the connector, milk spout and milk intake tube, then reinstall the lid securely onto the milk container.
Make sure every component is fully seated before using the carafe again.
REFIT AND TEST THE CARAFE
Add fresh chilled milk and reconnect the LatteCrema Hot carafe to your Magnifica Evo.
For good frothing performance, start with milk at approximately 5°C.
Prepare a milk drink and check that milk delivery and foam quality are back to normal.
