How to Clean a De'Longhi PrimaDonna Soul Milk System

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Fresh water, a cup to collect cleaning water and access to a dishwasher or a basin of hot water. A toothpick may be needed to remove milk deposits from the froth adjustment dial groove.

RUN THE AUTOMATIC MILK CLEAN

After preparing your final milk drink, leave the milk container attached to the machine. Position a cup beneath the milk spout and turn the froth adjustment dial to Clean. Hot water and steam will flow through the milk spout. Allow the cleaning operation to finish automatically.

RETURN THE DIAL AND REMOVE THE CONTAINER

Turn the froth adjustment dial back to a froth setting. Remove the milk container and place it in the refrigerator if milk remains. The automatic cleaning operation does not require the container to be emptied beforehand.

DISMANTLE THE MILK CONTAINER

For thorough cleaning, lift off the milk container lid. Remove the milk dispensing spout, its extension and the milk intake tube. Turn the froth adjustment dial clockwise to the Insert position and pull it out. Turn and remove the milk container connector.

WASH THE COMPONENTS

The milk container and its removable components can be washed in the upper basket of a dishwasher. Alternatively, wash all components thoroughly with hot water and immerse them in a basin of hot water for 30 minutes before completing the remaining cleaning checks.

CLEAN THE FROTH ADJUSTMENT AREA

Inspect the hollow and groove beneath the froth adjustment dial for remaining milk deposits. If necessary, carefully remove deposits from the groove using a toothpick. Rinse the inside of the dial housing and milk container connector opening under running water.

CHECK THE MILK TUBES AND SPOUT

Inspect the milk intake tube and dispensing spout to ensure neither is obstructed by milk residue. These passages must be clear before the milk container is reassembled.

REASSEMBLE THE MILK SYSTEM

Refit all the removable components to the milk container lid, including the connector, froth adjustment dial, milk intake tube, dispensing spout and extension. Attach the completed lid to the milk container.

How do I start the automatic milk cleaning function on the PrimaDonna Soul?
Leave the milk container connected after preparing a milk-based drink. Place a cup beneath the milk spout and rotate the froth adjustment dial to Clean. The machine dispenses hot water and steam, stopping automatically when cleaning is complete. Return the dial to a froth setting afterwards.
Can the PrimaDonna Soul milk container go in the dishwasher?
Yes. The milk container and its removable components are dishwasher-safe when placed in the upper basket. For hand washing, clean the components thoroughly with hot water and soak them in hot water for 30 minutes before inspecting and rinsing the internal passages.
Why is my PrimaDonna Soul producing very little milk froth?
Milk deposits around the froth adjustment dial, intake tube or dispensing spout can interfere with milk delivery. Clean these components thoroughly. The manual also identifies milk temperature as important and specifies refrigerated skimmed or semi-skimmed milk at approximately 5°C for consistent frothing.
