HOW TO CLEAN A GAGGIA CADORNA MILK SYSTEM

The Gaggia Cadorna range uses different milk systems depending on the model. Before cleaning, identify the system fitted to your machine. Cadorna Prestige and Milk models use a milk carafe, Cadorna Barista Plus uses the Capp in Cup system, while Cadorna Style and Plus models use a steam wand or Pannarello.

IDENTIFY YOUR CADORNA MILK SYSTEM

Check which milk system is fitted to your Cadorna before continuing. Do not follow milk-carafe instructions on a machine fitted with a steam wand or Capp in Cup system.

Once identified, follow the relevant section below for your machine.

CADORNA MILK CARAFE — QUICK CLEAN

On Cadorna models fitted with the milk carafe, use the machine's QUICK CLEAN function after preparing milk drinks.

Follow the cleaning request shown on the display and allow the machine to rinse the milk circuit. This helps remove fresh milk residue before it dries inside the dispensing system.

REMOVE THE MILK CARAFE

Remove the milk carafe from the machine and empty any remaining milk. Separate the removable parts of the carafe as shown in the Cadorna instructions.

Pay particular attention to the milk tube and dispensing components, where milk residue can collect.

CLEAN THE CARAFE COMPONENTS

Rinse the removable milk-carafe components thoroughly with fresh water. Make sure the milk passages and tube are clear and free from visible residue.

Reassemble the components carefully and make sure each part is correctly positioned before reinstalling the carafe.

COMPLETE THE DEEP MILK CLEAN

Periodically complete the deeper milk-system cleaning procedure using a suitable milk circuit cleaning product.

Follow the cleaning programme and on-screen instructions for your Cadorna version, allowing the cleaning solution to pass through the complete milk circuit.

RINSE THE MILK CIRCUIT

After using milk-system cleaner, rinse the carafe thoroughly and refill it with fresh drinking water.

Run the appropriate milk cleaning or dispensing procedure again with fresh water to flush the cleaning solution completely from the milk circuit.

CADORNA BARISTA PLUS — CLEAN CAPP IN CUP

If your Cadorna uses the Capp in Cup system, remove the external milk-system components after use and clean away any remaining milk.

Follow the Capp in Cup cleaning instructions shown by the machine and in the model instructions rather than using the milk-carafe procedure above.

CLEAN THE CAPP IN CUP COMPONENTS

Disconnect the milk tube and removable Capp in Cup components. Rinse the milk-contact parts thoroughly with fresh water, making sure the tube and milk passages remain clear.

Reassemble the system correctly before preparing another milk-based drink.

CADORNA STYLE / PLUS — CLEAN THE PANNARELLO

If your Cadorna uses a steam wand or Classic Pannarello, wipe the steam wand after preparing milk and clean the removable Pannarello components regularly.

Remove the Pannarello only when it is cool enough to handle safely. Rinse the removable components thoroughly to prevent dried milk restricting the steam and air passages.

CHECK THE SYSTEM BEFORE REASSEMBLY

Whichever Cadorna milk system you have, check that the milk-contact components are clean and that tubes and dispensing passages are unobstructed.

Reassemble everything correctly before returning the machine to normal use.

Do all Gaggia Cadorna machines have the same milk system?
No. The Cadorna family uses different milk systems depending on the model. Some versions use an integrated milk carafe, the Barista Plus uses the Capp in Cup system, while other Cadorna versions use a steam wand or Pannarello. Always identify your milk system before following a cleaning procedure.
Why is my Gaggia Cadorna not frothing milk properly?
Dried milk inside the dispensing components, milk tube or air passages can restrict milk and air flow and reduce foam quality. Thoroughly clean the removable components for your particular Cadorna milk system and make sure all milk passages are clear before reassembling it.
Is QUICK CLEAN enough to clean a Gaggia Cadorna milk system?
No. QUICK CLEAN is useful for rinsing fresh milk residue from compatible Cadorna milk systems after preparing a drink, but it doesn't replace manually cleaning the removable milk-contact components or carrying out the deeper milk-system cleaning procedure.
