HOW TO DESCALE A GAGGIA CADORNA

The Gaggia Cadorna guides you through its descaling procedure on the display. When the machine requests descaling, complete the full cycle to remove mineral deposits from the internal water circuit. The complete procedure takes approximately 25 minutes and includes both descaling and fresh-water rinsing.

OPEN THE CLEANING MENU

Press the CLEAN/SETTING button on the control panel.

Select CLEAN, then select DESCALING from the available cleaning programmes. Press START/STOP to begin the procedure.

PREPARE THE MACHINE

Remove the drip tray and coffee pucks container. Empty both parts and reinstall them correctly in the machine.

On Cadorna versions fitted with the Classic Pannarello, remove the Pannarello before continuing with the descaling procedure.

REMOVE THE WATER FILTER

Remove the water tank and empty it completely.

If an INTENZA+ water filter is installed in the tank, remove the filter before adding the descaling solution.

ADD THE DESCALING SOLUTION

Pour the entire bottle of Gaggia descaling solution into the water tank.

Add fresh drinking water until the level reaches the CALC CLEAN marking on the water tank, then reinstall the tank in the machine.

POSITION A LARGE CONTAINER

Place a container with a capacity of at least 1.5 litres beneath the coffee dispensing spout and the steam or hot-water outlet.

Make sure the container is positioned to collect water from both dispensing areas before continuing.

FOLLOW THE DISPLAY

Follow the instructions shown on the Cadorna display and confirm each preparation step when requested.

Once the machine confirms that everything is ready, allow the automatic descaling stage to begin.

RUN THE DESCALING STAGE

The Cadorna automatically dispenses the descaling solution through its internal water circuit and outlets.

Allow the machine to continue until the descaling stage is complete. Do not remove the brew group while the descaling programme is running.

RINSE THE WATER TANK

When prompted, remove the water tank and rinse it thoroughly with fresh drinking water to remove any remaining descaling solution.

Refill the tank with fresh water as instructed on the display and reinstall it in the machine.

COMPLETE THE RINSE CYCLE

Empty the collection container if necessary and return it beneath the dispensing outlets.

Continue following the instructions on the display. The Cadorna will use the fresh water to rinse descaling solution from the internal water circuit.

FINISH THE PROCEDURE

Allow the rinse stage to continue until the machine confirms that the descaling procedure has been completed.

Empty the drip tray and collection container. Refit the Pannarello where applicable and reinstall or replace the INTENZA+ water filter before returning the machine to normal use.

How long does it take to descale a Gaggia Cadorna?
Allow approximately 25 minutes for the complete Gaggia Cadorna descaling procedure. This includes both the descaling stage and the fresh-water rinse. Follow the instructions shown on the machine's display until it confirms that the procedure is complete.
Should I remove the INTENZA+ filter before descaling my Gaggia Cadorna?
Yes. If an INTENZA+ water filter is installed, remove it from the water tank before adding the descaling solution. Once the full descaling and rinse procedure is complete, reinstall or replace the filter as appropriate.
Can I pause the Gaggia Cadorna descaling cycle?
Yes. The START/STOP button can be used to pause and resume the descaling procedure. This is useful if you need to empty the collection container, but the complete descaling and rinse programme should still be finished once started.

When START CALC CLEAN appears, don't repeatedly postpone it. The Anima has a guided descaling programme, so follow the messages on the display and complete both the descale and rinse stages. Always remove the INTENZA+ filter before starting and refill to the specified CALC CLEAN level when instructed.
