How to Clean a Saeco GranAroma Brew Group
guide
Cleaning your Saeco GranAroma brew group helps prevent coffee residue from building up inside the brewing mechanism. The brew group should be rinsed weekly, cleaned using the coffee oil removal programme monthly and lubricated every two months.
SWITCH OFF THE MACHINE
Switch off your Saeco GranAroma before removing the brew group.
Remove the water tank and open the service door.
REMOVE THE BREW GROUP
Press the PUSH handle and pull the brew group out using its grip.
When removing the brew group, also empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container.
RINSE THE BREW GROUP
Rinse the brew group thoroughly under running water.
Carefully clean the upper filter to remove accumulated coffee residue.
Allow the brew group to air-dry. Do not dry it with a cloth, as fibres can collect inside the mechanism.
CHECK AND REFIT THE BREW GROUP
Before refitting, check that the arrow on the yellow cylinder aligns with the black arrow and N marking.
If they are not aligned, push the lever down until it touches the base of the brew group.
Slide the brew group along its guide rails until it clicks into position.
Do not press PUSH while inserting. Close the service door and refit the water tank.
RUN THE MONTHLY COFFEE OIL CLEAN
Once a month, select the Clean icon on the machine.
Use the up and down arrows to select Brew Group Clean. Press OK to confirm.
Follow the instructions displayed by the machine to complete the coffee oil cleaning programme.
The manual specifies Philips coffee oil remover tablets. It does not list every subsequent programme screen, so follow the display for tablet placement and timing.
LUBRICATE THE BREW GROUP
Every two months, apply a thin layer of the specified brew group grease to the piston, which is the grey part of the brew group.
Apply a thin layer around the grey shaft at the bottom of the brew group.
Finally, apply a thin layer to the guide rails on both sides.
Use the lubrication locations shown in the machine manual.
