How to Clean a Saeco Incanto Milk System
guide
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Fresh drinking water, a container to collect discharged water, access to lukewarm tap water and a suitable milk circuit cleaner for the monthly cleaning procedure. The HD8917 milk carafe cleaning cycle specifies CA6705 milk circuit cleaner.
This guide covers Saeco Incanto HD8917 machines fitted with the automatic milk carafe. Complete the quick rinse after preparing milk drinks, clean the removable components weekly and carry out a full milk circuit clean monthly.
RUN THE QUICK MILK RINSE
After preparing a milk-based drink, a carafe cleaning icon appears on the machine display.
Press OK when the cleaning icon appears. Remove your prepared drink and position an empty container beneath the milk dispensing spout.
Pull out the milk dispensing spout and press OK again. The machine dispenses hot water through the milk circuit to perform the quick rinse.
REMOVE THE MILK CARAFE COMPONENTS
For regular thorough cleaning, remove the milk carafe from the machine and detach the upper assembly.
Remove the carafe lid, lift the milk froth dispensing spout out of the upper assembly and disconnect the milk suction tube.
Rinse the suction tube thoroughly under lukewarm running water to remove milk residue.
DISASSEMBLE THE MILK FROTHER
Once a week, separate the five removable milk dispensing components for a thorough clean.
Press the release buttons on both sides of the carafe top and lift the upper assembly away. Turn the dispensing assembly upside down and pull the suction tube away from its rubber support.
Press the milk frother release buttons to separate the frother from the rubber support. Then pull the milk frother connection out of the frother.
The five components are the suction tube, rubber support, milk frother, milk frother connection and dispensing spout lid.
RINSE AND REASSEMBLE
Rinse each separated milk dispensing component thoroughly under lukewarm running water.
The detachable milk dispensing components can also be cleaned in a dishwasher, but the milk carafe container itself should not be placed in the dishwasher.
Reassemble the frother components in the reverse order of removal. Refit the dispensing assembly into the carafe top, checking that the internal positioning pin is correctly aligned before fitting the assembly.
Secure the upper assembly back onto the milk carafe.
RUN THE MONTHLY MILK CIRCUIT CLEAN
Once a month, empty the milk carafe and add the contents of one CA6705 milk circuit cleaner sachet. Fill the carafe with fresh water to the MAX marking.
Insert the carafe into the machine and place a suitable collection container beneath the milk dispensing spout.
Press MENU, select DRINKS and scroll to MILK FROTH. Press OK to dispense the cleaning solution through the milk system.
Repeat the milk froth dispensing operation until the carafe is empty. Do not drink the discharged cleaning solution.
COMPLETE THE FRESH WATER RINSES
Remove the empty milk carafe and collection container. Rinse the carafe thoroughly and refill it with fresh water to the MAX marking.
Reinsert the carafe, place the collection container beneath the milk dispensing spout and use MENU > DRINKS > MILK FROTH to dispense the rinse water.
Repeat the dispensing operation until the carafe is empty. Refill the carafe with fresh water and complete a second full rinsing sequence in the same way.
When the final rinse is complete, remove and disassemble the milk dispensing components. Rinse them under lukewarm running water before reassembling the carafe.
The milk system is now ready for use.
