WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Saeco/Philips CA6700-series liquid descaling solution (CA6701), fresh drinking water and a container with a minimum capacity of 1.5 litres. Allow approximately 30 minutes to complete the full process. Never use vinegar or household descalers.

01

PREPARE THE MACHINE

Remove the drip tray and coffee grounds container, empty and clean both, then reinstall them. Position a large container of at least 1.5 litres beneath the coffee dispensing outlet. Do not remove the brew group during descaling.

02

START CALC CLEAN

When START CALC CLEAN appears on the display, press OK. To start the procedure manually, press MENU, select MENU, scroll to DESCALING and confirm with OK. Follow the instructions displayed on the machine.

03

PREPARE THE WATER FILTER AND MILK CARAFE

Remove the AquaClean water filter from the tank, if fitted. On versions supplied with a milk carafe, insert the carafe and extend its milk dispensing spout fully to the right when prompted. Remove the hot water dispensing spout if fitted. Position the collection container to catch water from the dispensing outlets.

04

ADD THE DESCALING SOLUTION

Pour the complete bottle of the specified descaling solution into the water tank. Add fresh drinking water up to the CALC CLEAN level marking. Reinstall the water tank and press OK to confirm.

05

RUN THE DESCALING CYCLE

The machine will dispense the descaling solution in intervals. The display indicates the progress of the cycle, which takes approximately 20 minutes. Allow the machine to continue until the descaling phase finishes and the water tank is empty. Do not drink any discharged liquid.

06

RINSE AND REFILL THE WATER TANK

Remove the water tank and rinse it thoroughly with fresh water. Refill it to the level indicated for rinsing on your machine, following the display instructions. On HD8917 versions specifying the CALC CLEAN marking, fill to that level. Reinstall the tank and confirm with OK.

07

PREPARE THE RINSE CYCLE

For models fitted with a milk carafe, remove and rinse the carafe, then fill it with fresh water to the MIN marking. Reinstall it and open the milk dispensing spout. Empty the collection container and replace it beneath the dispensing outlets. Press OK when prompted.

08

COMPLETE THE RINSING PROCESS

Allow the machine to run its automatic rinsing cycle. If another rinse is requested, refill the water tank as instructed and repeat until the completion symbol appears. Do not interrupt the procedure before the machine confirms completion.

09

FINISH AND REASSEMBLE

Press OK to exit the descaling programme. The machine will heat up and perform an automatic rinse. Empty the collection container, clean the milk carafe if fitted, and rinse the brew group using its normal cleaning procedure. Install and activate a new AquaClean filter if required. Your Saeco Incanto is now ready for use.

Engineer's Tip

If your Saeco Incanto is displaying START CALC CLEAN, complete the descaling programme before the machine develops restricted water flow or heating problems. Always remove the AquaClean filter before adding descaler and ensure the entire rinsing process finishes. If the machine repeatedly requests rinsing, check the water level carefully before assuming there is a fault. Never attempt to clear heavy limescale by using stronger or concentrated descaling chemicals.

FAQ's

FAQ's

  • How often should I descale my Saeco Incanto?

Your Saeco Incanto will display a CALC CLEAN notification when descaling is required. The frequency depends on water hardness, usage and whether an AquaClean water filter is correctly installed and activated. Regular descaling helps prevent limescale restrictions within the heating and water delivery circuits.

  • Why does my Saeco Incanto keep asking me to rinse after descaling?

The machine may request additional rinsing if the water tank was not filled to the required level or if the rinsing programme has not completed. Refill the tank according to the display instructions and allow the rinse cycle to finish. The descaling procedure is complete only when the machine displays its confirmation symbol.

  • Can I stop the Saeco Incanto descaling cycle halfway through?

The Saeco Incanto allows the descaling or rinsing cycle to be paused using the ESC button and resumed using OK. However, the complete programme must be finished before normal operation. If the procedure is interrupted unexpectedly, the machine may require additional rinsing before it can prepare coffee again.
