HOW TO CLEAN A SAGE BAMBINO STEAM WAND

Cleaning the Sage Bambino steam wand after texturing milk helps prevent dried milk from restricting the steam tip and reducing frothing performance. Regular wiping and purging should be part of normal use, while the supplied steam tip cleaning tool can be used if the wand becomes blocked.

WIPE THE WAND AFTER TEXTURING MILK

After each milk-texturing session, wipe the steam wand and steam tip thoroughly with a clean damp cloth. Do this as part of your normal routine rather than allowing milk residue to remain on the wand.

POINT THE WAND AT THE DRIP TRAY

Lower the steam wand and point it directly towards the drip tray and away from anyone using the machine. The wand can now be purged to help clear milk residue from inside the steam tip.

PURGE THE STEAM WAND

Press the STEAM button to run steam through the wand, or press and hold the STEAM button for 3 seconds to activate the steam wand purge. The purge function sends short water pulses through the steam wand to help reduce blockages.

CHECK THE STEAM FLOW

Regularly check the steam performance. If the steam output has become very small, one or more of the holes in the steam tip may be restricted. Try manually purging the wand before removing the steam tip.

REMOVE THE STEAM TIP IF BLOCKED

If the steam flow remains very small and the wand is still blocked, use the supplied steam tip cleaning tool to unscrew the steam tip. The cleaning tool is stored at the back of the Bambino underneath the water tank.

CLEAR THE STEAM TIP HOLES

With the steam tip removed, use the supplied cleaning tool to carefully clear the blocked holes in the tip. Make sure each opening is clear before refitting the tip.

RINSE THE STEAM TIP

Rinse the cleaned steam tip thoroughly and wipe it with a clean, dry cloth. Check that no loosened residue remains around the openings before reinstalling it.

REFIT AND PURGE THE WAND

Screw the steam tip securely back onto the steam wand. Once reassembled, purge the steam wand again to flush through the cleaned tip and check that the steam flow has returned.
