REMOVE THE WATER FILTER

Remove the water tank. If an INTENZA+ water filter is installed, remove it before starting the descaling procedure.

EMPTY THE DRIP TRAY

Remove the drip tray and coffee grounds container. Empty and clean both parts, then reinstall them correctly in the machine.

POSITION A LARGE CONTAINER

Place a container with a capacity of at least 1.5 litres beneath the coffee dispensing spout.

Depending on your Anima version, follow any additional instructions shown on the display for the milk or hot-water system.

START CALC CLEAN

When START CALC CLEAN appears on the display, press the OK button to begin the descaling procedure.

If you previously postponed the warning, press MENU, enter the menu and scroll to START CALC CLEAN. Press OK to select and confirm the descaling programme.

ADD THE DESCALING SOLUTION

Pour the Gaggia descaling solution into the water tank. Add fresh water until the level reaches the CALC CLEAN marking on the tank.

Reinstall the water tank and press OK when prompted by the machine.

RUN THE DESCALING STAGE

The Gaggia Anima now begins dispensing the descaling solution automatically at regular intervals. The display shows the progress of the cycle.

The first stage takes approximately 20 minutes. Allow the machine to continue until the descaling solution has been dispensed and the water tank is empty.

RINSE AND REFILL THE WATER TANK

Remove the water tank and rinse it thoroughly. Fill it with fresh drinking water up to the CALC CLEAN level and reinstall it.

Empty the container used to collect the descaling solution and place it back beneath the dispensing area.

START THE RINSE CYCLE

Press OK to begin the rinse stage. The machine will dispense the fresh water automatically to flush descaling solution from the internal water circuit.

If the tank was not filled sufficiently, the Anima may request another rinse. Refill the tank to the required level and repeat the rinse when instructed.

COMPLETE THE CYCLE

Allow the rinse cycle to continue until the machine stops automatically. When the display confirms that descaling is complete, press OK to exit the descaling programme.

The Gaggia Anima will heat up and perform its automatic rinse.

FINISH THE MAINTENANCE

Empty the collection container and drip tray. Clean the brew group and, on versions fitted with a milk system, complete the appropriate milk-system cleaning after descaling.

Install the INTENZA+ water filter before returning the machine to normal use.
