  • Check whether the water is actually coming from the drip tray

    The E8 deliberately sends water into the drip tray during normal operation and maintenance. Remove the tray, empty it completely, dry it and refit it. If water only accumulates inside the tray, particularly following rinsing, this does not necessarily indicate a leak. The E8 manual specifically instructs regular emptying and cleaning of the drip tray.

  • Remove and carefully refit the water tank

    If water is appearing underneath or towards the rear/side of the E8, remove the water tank and inspect it before refitting it securely. The manual instructs removing, rinsing, filling and reinserting the tank as part of normal operation. If the leak starts as soon as a full tank is installed—even with the machine switched off—that helps narrow the problem towards the tank or its connection rather than the brewing circuit.

  • Check the CLARIS Smart+ filter installation

    If leaking began immediately after changing the water filter, check that the filter and tank have been assembled and installed correctly. Don't assume an internal machine fault if the problem appeared directly after filter or water-tank work.

  • Watch the E8 while it performs a rinse

    Place the machine on a dry surface, empty the drip tray and run a rinse while watching where the water appears. Water should leave through the intended outlets or be collected internally by the drip tray. Water appearing beneath the machine during the cycle is a much stronger indication that the leak is internal.

  • Check around the coffee spout and fine foam frother

    The E8 uses separate coffee and milk/frothing outlets. During its cleaning programme, the manual specifically states that water flows from the coffee spout and fine foam frother. Check these areas for water tracking down the front of the machine, which can make an external outlet leak look like water is coming from underneath.

  • Use when it leaks to narrow down the fault

    The timing is one of the best diagnostic clues. Leaks with the machine switched off point you first towards the tank/tank connection. Leaks during coffee preparation suggest the pressurised coffee/water path needs investigation. Leaks during rinsing or cleaning point towards the relevant water circuit or drainage path. If water is genuinely escaping underneath the E8 rather than being collected by the drip tray, internal inspection may be required.

  • Why is there so much water in my Jura E8 drip tray?

    Some water in the drip tray is expected because the E8 performs rinsing and maintenance operations. The manual instructs owners to empty the drip tray daily and clean it thoroughly when necessary.

    If the tray is filling unusually quickly, empty and dry it and monitor the machine through a few drinks and rinse cycles. That establishes whether you're seeing normal drainage or an abnormal amount of water entering the tray.

  • Why does my Jura E8 leak water underneath even when it is switched off?

    If fresh water continues appearing underneath the machine while it is switched off, start with the removable water tank and its connection to the machine. Remove the tank, dry the machine and surrounding surface, then check whether the leak returns when the filled tank is reinstalled.

    A leak occurring without the pump operating is diagnostically different from one that appears only during coffee preparation.

  • Why does my Jura E8 only leak when making coffee?

    A leak that occurs specifically while the E8 is preparing coffee is more suggestive of a problem occurring when the internal water system is operating under pressure. First make sure water isn't simply running down from the coffee spout and appearing underneath.

    If the exterior remains dry but water emerges from beneath the machine every time a coffee is prepared, the E8 may have an internal hydraulic leak that requires professional diagnosis.
