Lavazza coffee machine fault codes – My Coffee Machine

Selected coffee button steady, other button flashing
On the Jolie & Milk, this pattern can occur when the machine runs out of water during coffee delivery.
Fill the water tank to the MAX level, then press the coffee button that was originally selected. The button will begin flashing and the interrupted coffee-delivery procedure will restart.
Coffee buttons flashing quickly
The Jolie & Milk manual specifies that after five deliveries, the coffee buttons flash quickly to indicate that the used-capsule drawer is full.
Empty the capsule drawer and press one of the buttons to reset the indication.
This is worth checking before treating rapid flashing as an electrical fault.
Empty water tank indication
The Jolie range includes an empty-water-tank warning. If the machine stops dispensing and indicates that water is required, refill the tank before restarting the drink.
Used capsule drawer warning
The Jolie also monitors the used-capsule drawer, which has capacity for approximately five capsules. Empty and correctly reinstall the drawer when the warning appears.
Check whether water is still dispensing normally
Heating and water-flow symptoms can overlap, so test what the machine can actually do. If it powers on and eventually becomes ready, check whether it can dispense a normal quantity of water through the brewing outlet.
If the pump operates but very little or no water moves through the machine, investigate the water-flow problem as well as the apparent heating issue. A machine with normal water flow but completely cold output presents a different fault from one struggling to move water at all.
Recognise when the heating fault needs further inspection
If your Lavazza powers on normally but remains completely cold, never completes its heating cycle, or continues to produce cold water after the appropriate customer maintenance has been completed, don't keep repeatedly cycling or descaling it.
At that point, the symptoms may indicate a fault within the heating or temperature-control system. Internal electrical and heating components aren't suitable for routine customer repair, so further inspection is the appropriate next step.

Alarm light remains on after checking the capsule drawer
Check that the used-capsule collection tray is correctly installed.
The Idola troubleshooting table specifically identifies a missing or incorrectly fitted capsule tray when the machine is ready but doesn't acknowledge a drink selection. Correctly inserting the tray should switch off the corresponding alarm warning.
Machine is ready but doesn't respond when a coffee button is pressed
Make sure you're pressing one of the illuminated controls correctly.
If the machine still doesn't respond, check the used-capsule collection tray. Its position forms part of the Idola's operating checks.
Lever won't open after making coffee
This isn't necessarily a broken lever.
The Idola manual specifically identifies a full used-capsule tray as a cause of the loading lever remaining closed after delivery.
Empty the tray and then try operating the lever again.

Machine ready but drink selection doesn't respond
As with the Idola, check the used-capsule collection tray.
The Deséa troubleshooting table identifies an incorrectly fitted capsule tray as one reason the machine may be ready for use but fail to acknowledge the selected control. Refit the tray correctly and check whether the warning clears.
Capsule lever remains closed
Check whether the used-capsule tray is full.
The Deséa manual specifically tells the user to empty the tray and then try opening the lever again.

Light flashing after switching on
Don't immediately treat flashing during startup as a fault.
Lavazza machines go through a heating cycle after being switched on. The machine is ready once its ON/brew control reaches its normal steady-light ready state.
If the light never reaches its normal ready state, check the water tank and whether the machine is heating correctly before continuing.
Machine indicates descaling
On Lavazza machines equipped with a descaling warning, the indication means the machine requires its model-specific descaling procedure.
Lavazza says scale can lead to reduced water flow or cold coffee and recommends descaling approximately every three months, potentially more frequently in hard-water areas.

Flashing while heating
Flashing immediately after switching on can simply mean the machine is warming up. Allow it to complete the heating cycle before diagnosing a fault. The normal ready condition is indicated by the relevant control becoming steady.
Water warning
Check that the water tank contains fresh water and is correctly fitted.
If the warning appeared while coffee was being dispensed, refill the tank before attempting to restart the interrupted delivery.
Capsule drawer warning
Remove and empty the used-capsule container.
Also make sure it is properly reinstalled. Models such as the Idola and Deséa can detect problems associated with the capsule collection tray, so simply emptying it without correctly refitting it may not clear the warning.
Rapidly flashing coffee buttons
On Jolie & Milk specifically, fast flashing after five deliveries indicates that the used-capsule drawer needs emptying.
Don't automatically apply that interpretation to every Lavazza model.
Descaling warning
Complete the correct descaling procedure for your exact machine. Lavazza specifically states that descaling procedures differ between models.
Warning remains after the cause has been corrected
Switch the machine off normally and make sure all removable components — particularly the water tank, drip tray and capsule container — are correctly installed.
If the same warning immediately returns after the documented cause has been corrected, don't repeatedly operate the machine. Further diagnosis may be required.
