If your Miele coffee machine is not dispensing coffee, the problem is often caused by a blocked brew unit, restricted water flow, grinder issues or overdue maintenance. In many cases, the machine will still power on and complete part of the brewing cycle, but little or no coffee reaches the cup. The good news is that many dispensing problems can be resolved with a few simple checks before arranging a repair.

Start by ensuring the water tank is full and correctly seated, as an incorrectly positioned tank can interrupt water flow. Check that the bean hopper contains fresh coffee beans and that the beans are moving freely into the grinder. Oily or flavoured beans can stick together and prevent consistent grinding.

If your Miele coffee machine appears to grind normally but no coffee is dispensed, remove and clean the brew unit following the manufacturer's instructions. Coffee oils and compacted grounds can restrict the brewing process over time. Rinse the brew unit thoroughly, allow it to dry and reinstall it securely.

A blocked coffee spout can also prevent coffee from reaching your cup. Clean the dispensing outlet and run a hot water cycle to help flush away any coffee residue. If only a small amount of coffee is produced, the spout or internal coffee pathway may require a more thorough clean.

If no water is flowing at all, inspect the water filter and complete a descale cycle if your machine recommends one. Limescale inside the hydraulic system can reduce water flow and affect brewing performance. Replacing an old water filter may also improve water delivery.

Listen to the grinder during brewing. If you hear the grinder running but no coffee is produced, the grinder may not be delivering enough ground coffee to the brew unit due to worn burrs, a blockage or an incorrect grind setting. If the grinder is unusually quiet or makes abnormal noises, further investigation may be required.
