Start by running the automatic milk system rinse programme. Miele recommends rinsing the milk pipework regularly to prevent milk residue from hardening inside the tubes. If your machine prompts "Rinse milk pipework" or "Clean milk pipework", complete the maintenance programme before making another milk drink.

Next, remove and thoroughly clean all removable milk components, including the milk tube, milk valve, milk spout and any siphon or milk container parts fitted to your model. Dried milk deposits are one of the most common causes of poor milk foam and restricted milk flow. Using a dedicated milk system cleaner will help dissolve protein and fat deposits that water alone cannot remove.

Check that all milk tubes are connected securely and are free from kinks, splits or blockages. If your machine displays "Check milk tube", "Check milk system" or "No milk detected", inspect the entire milk circuit for obstructions and ensure every connection is fully seated.

The type and temperature of the milk also affect foam quality. For the best results, use fresh, cold milk taken directly from the refrigerator. If your milk produces large bubbles or very little foam, try a different brand or milk type, as protein and fat content can significantly affect frothing performance.

If milk begins dispensing but stops part way through the drink, the milk tube or siphon may be partially blocked, preventing the machine from drawing milk consistently. Clean the complete milk pathway before using the machine again.

Some Miele models allow milk temperature and drink settings to be adjusted through the menu. If the milk is consistently too hot, too cold or the foam quality has changed, check these settings to ensure they match your preferred drink.

Regular maintenance is the best way to prevent milk frothing problems. Completing the recommended rinse programme after preparing milk drinks, carrying out routine deep cleans and keeping the milk system free from residue will help maintain consistent foam quality and reliable operation.
