quick tips

  • Adjust the grinder gradually

Only adjust the grinder while the coffee grinder is operating during the first stage of grinding. After each adjustment, make at least three coffees before deciding whether another change is needed, as the new setting takes time to affect extraction.

  • Always clean the milk carafe after milk drinks

After every milk-based drink, run the automatic CLEAN cycle. This flushes hot water and steam through the milk circuit to prevent milk residue from drying inside the LatteCrema system.

  • Descale as soon as the machine requests it

When the descaling reminder appears, complete the guided descaling programme using De'Longhi EcoDecalk. Delaying descaling can reduce performance and affect coffee temperature.

  • Remove and rinse the brew unit monthly

Take the brewing unit out at least once a month, rinse it under running water only and allow it to dry before reinstalling. Never use detergent or place the brew unit in a dishwasher.

  • Use chilled milk for the best foam

For the finest milk texture, use milk straight from the refrigerator at around 5°C. Whole milk generally produces the richest foam, although the machine also supports soy, oat and almond drinks.

  • Run a rinse after long periods without use

If the machine hasn't been used for more than three or four days, perform two or three rinse cycles before making coffee to refresh the internal water circuit.

FAQ's

  • Why is my De'Longhi Eletta Explore coffee weak or lacking crema?

Weak coffee is usually caused by the grinder being set too coarse, stale coffee beans or unsuitable beans. Adjust the grinder one setting finer while the grinder is running, then make at least three coffees before making another adjustment. Fresh espresso beans generally produce better flavour and crema than coffee that has been open for a long period.

  • Why isn't my Eletta Explore frothing milk properly?

Poor milk foam is commonly caused by warm milk, blocked milk components or an unclean milk carafe. Always use refrigerated milk, run the CLEAN cycle after every milk drink and regularly dismantle and wash all LatteCrema components thoroughly to remove milk residue.

  • Why does my Eletta Explore ask for a cold or hot rinse?

The machine automatically recommends a rinse when switching between hot drinks and Cold Brew drinks. This brings the brewing circuit to the correct temperature, helping produce consistent extraction and ensuring both hot and cold beverages taste as intended.

  • Cleaning the LatteCrema Milk System

The Eletta Explore automatically prompts you to clean the milk system after every milk-based drink. Leave the milk carafe attached, place a container beneath the milk spout and turn the froth adjustment dial to CLEAN. The machine flushes hot water and steam through the milk circuit before stopping automatically.

At the end of the day, dismantle the milk carafe by removing the milk spout, intake tube, connector and froth adjustment dial. Wash all components either in the dishwasher or by hand using hot water (at least 40°C) and washing-up liquid. Ensure the holes in the lid and milk connector are completely free from milk deposits before reassembling the carafe.

  • Adjusting the Coffee Grinder

The Eletta Explore includes a built-in grinder adjustment tutorial in the Settings menu. Only turn the grinder adjustment dial while the grinder is actively grinding coffee during the first stage of preparation. After each adjustment, prepare at least three coffees before making another change, allowing the new grind setting to stabilise. If you're using the Coffee Link App, Bean Adapt Technology can further optimise grinding and brewing parameters for your chosen coffee beans.

  • Changing the Water Filter

Replace the water filter whenever the machine displays the replacement reminder or approximately every two months during normal use. Remove the new filter from its packaging, rotate the date indicator forward by two months, then activate it by running water through the centre until water flows from the side openings. Install the filter into the water tank, fill the tank with fresh water, then follow the guided Water Filter programme from the Settings menu to complete installation. If the machine is left unused with a filter installed, replace the filter after three weeks, even if no reminder has appeared.
