quick tips

  • Use medium-roast coffee beans

Very oily beans can clog the Bean Switch system and reduce grinder performance.

  • Run the Milk Clean cycle after every milk drink

Be sure to keep the LatteCrema system hygienic and maintain silky milk foam.

  • Remove and rinse the brew unit weekly

Always allow it to air dry completely before refitting.

  • Replace the water filter

Every 2 months (or when prompted) to reduce limescale and maintain brewing performance.

  • DESCAling

Only descale with a lactic acid descaler such as De'Longhi EcoDecalk, and always complete the full guided descaling cycle.

  • Bean switch

Keep the Bean Switch carousel and hopper clean by brushing away coffee dust regularly, helping the machine detect beans correctly and rotate smoothly.

FAQ's

  • Why isn't the Bean Switch System rotating properly on my De'Longhi Rivelia?

The Bean Switch System can become difficult to rotate if coffee dust or oily beans build up around the carousel and hopper connection. Remove the bean hopper, brush away any loose coffee grounds and wipe the carousel area clean before refitting it. Using medium-roast beans rather than very oily dark roasts helps prevent the mechanism from sticking and keeps the hopper rotating smoothly.

  • How often should I descale my De'Longhi Rivelia?

Descale your Rivelia whenever the machine prompts you to do so, or approximately every 6–8 weeks if you are not using a water filter. If a De'Longhi DLS C002 water filter is fitted and replaced regularly, descaling is typically only required every 3–4 months. Always use a lactic acid descaler such as De'Longhi EcoDecalk, complete the full guided descaling programme and avoid using vinegar.

  • LatteCrema milk system working properly?

For the best milk foam and hygiene, run the automatic Milk Clean cycle after every milk-based drink. Wash the milk lid and dispensing spouts regularly, use a dedicated milk system cleaner each week to remove hidden milk residues, and keep the milk components clean to prevent blockages and poor frothing performance. Regular cleaning helps maintain consistent foam quality and extends the life of the LatteCrema system.
