HOW TO CLEAN A SAECO XELSIS MILK SYSTEM

Regular cleaning helps keep your Saeco Xelsis milk system hygienic and producing consistent milk froth. Follow these daily, weekly and monthly cleaning procedures to remove milk residues and maintain the internal cappuccinatore.

DAILY CLEANING — HYGIESTEAM

01

OPEN THE CLEANING MENU

Press the Clean icon on the control panel and select HygieSteam from the cleaning menu. Press the Start/Stop button to begin the procedure.

02

POSITION THE MILK TUBE

Make sure the internal cappuccinatore is fitted and its door is closed. Connect the flexible milk tube to the cappuccinatore. Place the metal milk tube in its holder on the left side of the machine, confirming the instructions on the display.

03

RUN THE HYGIESTEAM CYCLE

Allow the machine to heat up and complete the automatic steam-cleaning cycle. Hot steam passes through the milk system to help clear milk residues. Take care when handling the metal milk tube, as it becomes hot during and after cleaning.

WEEKLY CLEANING — INTERNAL CAPPUCCINATORE

04

REMOVE THE CAPPUCCINATORE

Allow the milk system to cool. Open the cappuccinatore door behind the dispensing spout, disconnect the flexible milk tube and carefully pull the internal cappuccinatore downwards to remove it.

05

DISASSEMBLE AND RINSE

Separate the upper and lower sections of the cappuccinatore and disassemble its removable components. Rinse the parts thoroughly under lukewarm running water, using a little washing-up liquid where required. Remove any visible milk residue.

06

REASSEMBLE THE MILK SYSTEM

Reassemble the cleaned components. Hold the cappuccinatore upright, align its openings with the two connecting tubes inside the machine and push it upwards until it locks into place. Reconnect the flexible milk tube and close the door.

MONTHLY CLEANING — DEEP MILK CLEAN

07

SELECT DEEP MILK CLEAN

Press the Clean icon and select Deep Milk Clean. Confirm the selection and press Start/Stop. Make sure the cappuccinatore is correctly installed and its door is closed. Fill the water tank to the MAX level when prompted.

08

PREPARE THE CLEANING SOLUTION

Empty one sachet of suitable milk circuit cleaner into the milk container and add water to the 600 ml marking. Connect the flexible milk tube to the cappuccinatore and place the metal milk tube into the prepared cleaning solution.

09

RUN THE DEEP CLEANING CYCLE

Position a suitable collection container beneath the dispensing spout. Follow the display prompts to start the cleaning cycle. Allow the machine to draw the cleaning solution through the milk circuit and complete the programmed procedure.

10

RINSE AND COMPLETE HYGIESTEAM

When the Deep Milk Clean cycle has finished, empty the collection container and thoroughly rinse the milk container. Return the metal milk tube to its holder and run the HygieSteam programme to complete the cleaning process.

FAQ's

FAQ's

  • How often should I clean my Saeco Xelsis milk system?

Run the HygieSteam cleaning programme after each day of milk use. Remove and rinse the internal cappuccinatore weekly, and complete the Deep Milk Clean programme monthly using a suitable milk circuit cleaner. Regular cleaning helps prevent milk residue from accumulating inside the system.

  • Why is my Saeco Xelsis not frothing milk properly?

Poor milk frothing can result from milk residue restricting the cappuccinatore, an incorrectly assembled milk system or a poorly connected milk tube. Remove and clean the cappuccinatore, check that its components are correctly assembled and run the HygieSteam programme. If the problem continues, further investigation may be necessary.

  • Can I clean my Saeco Xelsis milk system without milk cleaner?

The daily HygieSteam programme and weekly manual cleaning can be completed without a specialist milk circuit cleaner. However, the monthly Deep Milk Clean programme requires a suitable milk system cleaning product to help remove accumulated milk deposits from the internal circuit.
