Krups Coffee Machine leaking water

If your Krups coffee machine is leaking water, the cause is not always a faulty seal or damaged component. The manufacturer manuals explain that water can collect around the machine during automatic rinsing, from an overfilled drip tray or if components such as the water tank or drip tray are not correctly fitted. Identifying where the water is coming from is the first step towards finding the correct solution.

During normal operation, Krups bean-to-cup machines automatically perform rinse cycles which discharge water into the drip tray. If the tray becomes full or is not seated correctly, water may overflow onto the worktop. Empty and clean the drip tray regularly and ensure it is fully inserted before using the machine.

The Krups troubleshooting guide specifically advises not to remove the water tank before the end of a brewing, cleaning or descaling cycle. Interrupting a programme can allow water to escape into the machine or drip tray unexpectedly and may lead to apparent leaks.

Remove the water tank and inspect it for damage, ensuring it is clean and correctly positioned when refitted. A poorly seated tank can prevent the hydraulic circuit from sealing correctly and may allow water to escape during operation.

Some Krups models monitor the position of the coffee grounds container and cleaning drawer. After emptying, wait a few seconds before refitting them and ensure they are pushed fully home. An incorrectly fitted container or drawer can affect drainage and generate maintenance warnings.

Blocked coffee circuits and limescale can affect water flow through the machine. If the CLEAN or CALC indicators are illuminated, complete the full maintenance programme without interruption. Regular cleaning and descaling help maintain correct water flow and reduce the likelihood of leaks caused by restricted internal circuits.
