If your Krups coffee machine is not pumping water, only delivers a few drops or has stopped producing coffee altogether, the problem is often related to the water supply, limescale or an interrupted maintenance programme rather than a pump failure. The manufacturer recommends checking the water circuit and completing any outstanding maintenance before assuming there is a mechanical fault.

Remove the water tank, refill it with fresh cold water and ensure it is fully seated when refitted. A poorly positioned tank can prevent the machine from drawing water correctly and may trigger water-related warning messages.

Limescale inside the hydraulic circuit is one of the most common causes of restricted water flow. If the CALC indicator is illuminated, complete the full descaling programme without interruption. On compatible models fitted with a Claris Aqua Filter, remove the filter before descaling and reinstall or replace it once the programme has finished.

If the CLEAN indicator is displayed, complete the automatic cleaning programme before attempting further troubleshooting. Coffee oils and deposits inside the brewing circuit can reduce water flow and affect coffee preparation.

If the water tank has been allowed to run empty, air can enter the hydraulic circuit. Refill the tank completely and allow the machine to complete any automatic rinse or priming programme before preparing another drink.

The Krups manuals advise leaving the water tank in place until brewing, cleaning or descaling programmes have finished. Removing the tank during a cycle can interrupt water flow and prevent the programme from completing correctly.

Some Krups models display an "Error Code XX" message if the machine detects an internal fault affecting operation. The manufacturer recommends disconnecting the machine from the mains for approximately 20 seconds before restarting it. If the error returns, record the displayed code and refer to your machine-specific support guide.
