Lavazza Assoluta Bean to Cup support

Lavazza Assoluta Bean to Cup support

Quick Tips

Quick Tips

  • Let the machine complete its start-up cycle

The Assoluta takes approximately 35 seconds to heat. When first switched on, allow it to complete its normal start-up and cleaning sequence before selecting a drink. If the machine has just been installed, the initial setup also includes rinsing the internal circuit with approximately 500 ml of water before adding beans and preparing coffee.

  • Use the correct grinder setting for your drink

The Assoluta has a grind selector inside the bean-container area with two main settings: a finer grind for espresso-style coffees and a coarser grind for longer coffees. If coffee is dispensing differently after changing beans or drink type, check the grinder setting before assuming there is a brewing fault. Perfect Bean Match can also guide the appropriate setting when using a recognised Lavazza blend through the connected app.

  • Don't ignore the brewing-unit indicator

The Assoluta has a removable internal brewing unit behind its side access panel. If its indicator flashes intermittently, the brewing unit and surrounding internal area require cleaning. Remove the unit using its two orange release buttons, rinse it with fresh water, allow it to dry and remove loose coffee residue from the internal area before reinstalling it. A slowly flashing indicator can mean the access door is missing or incorrectly closed, while a steady indicator can mean the internal brewing unit is missing or incorrectly positioned.

  • Read the water and coffee-grounds warnings separately

A flashing water-tank indicator means the tank may be empty, missing or incorrectly installed. Fill the 1.5-litre tank with fresh drinking water and make sure it is fully seated. The coffee-grounds indicator has its own conditions. A steady warning means the grounds container needs attention, while a flashing indication can mean the container is missing or incorrectly positioned. Refit removable containers properly after cleaning rather than simply resetting the machine.

  • Clean the milk system after milk drinks

The Assoluta's milk system uses a removable frothing assembly. After preparing milk, dismantle the milk-contact components and wash them so residue doesn't dry inside the frother. The removable milk-system components can also be washed in a dishwasher at low temperature. The system can produce cappuccino, large cappuccino, latte macchiato and hot or cold milk foam, with additional control over foam and temperature. Because there is considerably more going on here than a conventional steam wand, the milk system deserves its own maintenance routine. READ MORE → How to Clean the Lavazza Assoluta Milk System

  • Descale when the dedicated warning appears

The Assoluta monitors its need for descaling. When the dedicated descaling indicator remains illuminated, complete the machine's semi-automatic descaling cycle rather than continuing to reset or ignore the warning. Descaling treats the internal water circuit; it doesn't replace manual cleaning of the removable brewing unit, coffee-grounds area or milk system. These are separate maintenance jobs.

FAQ's

FAQ's

  • Can I use coffee beans other than Lavazza in the Assoluta?

Yes. The machine can use other brands of coffee beans. Perfect Bean Match, however, is designed around compatible Lavazza blends. When a Lavazza pack barcode is scanned through the connected app, the machine can recognise the blend and adjust relevant settings for it.

  • Why is the side-panel/brewing-unit light showing?

The meaning depends on the light pattern. An intermittent indication can mean the brewing unit/internal area requires cleaning. A slowly flashing indication can mean the access door isn't fitted or closed correctly, while a steady indication can indicate that the brewing unit itself is missing or incorrectly installed.

  • Why does my Lavazza Assoluta switch itself off?

The Assoluta automatically enters its energy-saving state after approximately three minutes of inactivity. This is normal operation rather than necessarily indicating a power fault.

  • Coffee Preparation

The main interface provides direct access to espresso, lungo/long coffee, XL coffee and free-dose preparation. Programmed drinks stop automatically at their set quantity, although dispensing can also be interrupted by pressing the relevant drink control again. Free dose allows you to start and manually stop coffee delivery. The machine grinds whole beans for each preparation, moves the ground coffee into the brewing unit and automatically carries out the extraction.

  • Grinder

The grind selector is located within the bean-container area. The Assoluta simplifies adjustment to two primary positions: Fine grind — espresso coffees. Coarse grind — longer coffees. If you're troubleshooting weak coffee, unusually fast extraction or a change after switching beans, establish which grinder position is being used before changing several other settings at once.

  • Perfect Bean Match

Perfect Bean Match works through the Lavazza app. Scan the barcode of a supported Lavazza coffee blend and the system recognises the coffee and adapts machine settings to suit that blend. This feature is specific to compatible Lavazza beans, but the machine itself isn't restricted to Lavazza coffee. Other coffee beans can still be used normally.

  • Brewing Unit

The brewing unit is removable for manual maintenance. When its cleaning indicator appears, open the access area, release the unit using the two orange buttons and remove it. Rinse the unit with fresh water and allow it to dry before refitting. Coffee powder and loose grounds should also be removed from the surrounding internal area. The machine recognises whether the brewing unit and access panel have been correctly replaced. This is an important distinction from descaling: descaling cleans the water circuit; removing the brewing unit deals with coffee residue inside the brewing system.

  • Milk System

The Assoluta has a dedicated automatic frothing system rather than a conventional manual steam wand. With the milk container correctly installed, the interface makes the milk recipes available. Cappuccino, large cappuccino and latte macchiato automatically combine milk preparation and coffee delivery. Hot and cold frothed milk can also be prepared separately. For cold foam, the temperature control is held for approximately three seconds; the machine confirms cold mode with a double beep and blue illumination. The milk system accepts approximately 80 ml minimum to 175 ml maximum for frothing, and additional foam adjustment is available from the interface and app. After every milk preparation, clean the milk-contact components rather than leaving milk residue inside the frothing assembly. • Cleaning

There are several separate cleaning routines on the Assoluta. The machine performs automatic cleaning functions, while a manual rinse cycle can also be started when necessary. The brewing unit and surrounding area require manual cleaning when their dedicated warning appears. The drip tray, water tank, grounds container and milk components should also be emptied and cleaned regularly. Removable components are specified as dishwasher-safe at low temperatures.

  • Descaling

A dedicated indicator tells you when the Assoluta requires descaling. Start the machine's semi-automatic descaling procedure when this warning appears. Don't confuse a descale warning with a brewing-unit cleaning warning. The machine monitors these as different maintenance requirements because they address different parts of the coffee system.

  • Lavazza App

Connecting the Assoluta to the app adds drink customisation, additional recipes, machine monitoring and Perfect Bean Match functionality. The app can also provide access to adjustments beyond the basic physical controls, including drink and milk customisation.

  • Machine Specifications

The Lavazza Assoluta measures approximately 220 mm wide × 435 mm deep × 358 mm high and weighs approximately 10 kg. It operates at 220–240 V / 50–60 Hz, with a rated power consumption of 1550 W. It has a 1.5-litre removable water tank, integrated whole-bean grinder, removable brewing unit, coffee-grounds container and automatic milk-frothing system. Heat-up takes approximately 35 seconds, and automatic energy-saving shut-off occurs after approximately three minutes. Available preparations include espresso, long espresso, long coffee, cappuccino, large cappuccino, latte macchiato, hot milk foam and cold milk foam, with additional recipes available through the connected app. The milk system uses a single whisk arrangement with approximately 80 ml minimum and 175 ml maximum frothing capacity.

Engineer Tip

If milk quality begins to deteriorate, concentrate on the milk system before changing coffee settings. Dried milk residue, incorrectly assembled frothing components or restricted movement within the frother can affect milk performance independently of the coffee side of the machine.
